Read More...We liked very much our home swap with the Besteman family who is very nice, easy-going and well organised. We enjoyed our staying at Hennie and Corina’s cosy and lovely home. The house is well located, close to the city centre of Apeldoorn and within an hour you can reach many places which are worth visiting : Amsterdam, Leide, Utrecht, Deventer,… and also interesting museums and parks : Kröller- Müller museum, National Hodge Veluwe Park, Apenheul primates zoo. Apeldoorn is a nice green city. We used as much as possible the confortable bikes which the Besteman family provided for all of us. Cycling in the Netherlands is a great and enjoyable experience. Corina & Hennie gave us many informations and travel advices on sites to visit. We highly recommend this family for a home exchange.

Read More...We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-week home exchange experience with the Besteman family in Apeldoorn! The family is really lovely and the home was very bright and cozy with comfortable beds and everything you need. The family was very helpful both before and during the trip as they are experienced home exchangers and this was our first exchange. They were very organized with travel planning, providing many ideas of things to do in and around Apeldoorn and the Netherlands and instructions for their house. We used their car and they also arranged bikes for all of us (even borrowing a smaller bike for our 9 year old). We loved eating our meals outside in their cozy backyard and relaxing and playing games in the covered outdoor seating area. In Apeldoorn we enjoyed a lot of biking and exploring the many parks and fantastic play structures. We spent a day at the Boschbad water park, biked on the white bikes in the National Park Hoge Veluwe, visited the Saturday market in the centre of town and the Veluwse Avondmarkt in Beekbergen – all very worth doing! The CODA library is also worth a visit with younger children just for the slide! From Apeldoorn it is only a 1-hour intercity train ride to Amsterdam, where we enjoyed a canal boat tour, the Nemo science museum and hours of enjoyable walking and discovery along the canals. We made a day trip by car to do a boat tour of Maasvlakte 2 Futureland (reclaimed land for the port of Rotterdam) with a side trip to the beach. It was unbelievable to be right beside those giant working tanker boats! We also visited family and some tourist spots in Zeeland (Deltapark Neeltje Jans – engineering marvel!) and Friesland (Harlingen town, Island of Terschelling (amazing beaches and biking!) and the town of Grou (rented bikes and made a 30 km loop with hopping on/off little ferry boats - super fun!). The central location of Apeldoorn made it very easy to visit all these places by car or train. This was a 10/10 location and family to exchange with. Thank you family Besteman!!
