We are a hospitable family, both just retired: Wilma (62), former financial administrator and Jan (67), former tourist guide and environmental project manager, with our lovely and responsible 26 year old daughter Tessa, who now lives and works in nearby Uithoorn. Together with her boyfriend Robin Tessa nowadays almost always travels independently from us. Next to mountainous areas and nature we appreciate to visit historic, cultural cities and occasionally to wind down on tropical beaches also. Real music and wine lovers, who love to dine out, but also cook all kinds of (ethnic) food. Seasoned travelers who go on holidays as often as we can; flexible and ingenious in solving schedule and travel problems. As for now 'pensionados' ... and school holidays do no longer limit our desire to explore new horizons throughout the world. Meanwhile we have offered hospitality (with pleasure !) to dozens of couples (± 60 in the meantime) and done more than 160 successful exchanges, the majority of them being through the HomeExchange site; the most spectacular ones and absolute highlights: in 2015 a 3 month round trip in Australia (16 consecutive exchanges), 8 in New Zealand (2016), 7 in Brasil (2017, 1½ month) & 7 in the U.S.A.-Far West (2012, 1½ month also), 13 in Spain (2 months this autumn 2022). HOSPITALITY (to couples / 2 persons) continued from end June 2023 !!
NO EXCHANGE around Christmas & New Year + NO EXCHANGE IN SUMMER 2023 (end June-July-August-mid Sept) ... as we definitely won't travel during these periods !!
!! AVAILABILITY of our COMPLETE apartment = 3-8 May / 12-30 May / 10-25 June only! NON-simultaneous reciprocal exchanges with favorite destinations ONLY & we normally do ± 6/7 day exchanges minimum = during our 2 month round trip through Southern Italy, for which a few exchanges still have to be arranged !!
* Note: with reciprocal HOSPITALITY after mid June: we normally offer 4 nights maximum and for 2 persons only.
Parties from ITALIA & SOUTH-AMERICA & from greater LONDON + NYC (all 5 boroughs etc.) => non-simultaneous exchange + hospitality stay with us encouraged;
=> with us to you from 2023 or onward : we now intend to visit Colombia-Peru-Chile-Argentina 3 months starting September 2024 or 2025!

OUR HOME
Duplex, real quiet with no through traffic & waterfront terrace =>
105m2 – 2 storeys, real quiet with no through traffic and a 15m2 waterfront terrace with evening sun, along a big canal!; 400m only to historic centre and all shops real nearby! Downstairs: living room w/ adjacent (dining)-kitchen; Upstairs: big parental bedroom plus a 2-nd bedroom, both w/ kingsize beds and the study w/ comfi 2-bed sleeping couch (10 secs to fold). 5 steps direct ground-access, 15m2 terrace along the waterfront & also a front balcony, parking underneath the building, possible use of our bikes, car exchange if preferred.
2023/2024 =>midweek as well as long weekends within driving distance & do surprise us! We consider all serious offers & normally answer within 2 days; personal emails please, fishing mail ignored!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live just a 350m west of the historic "Jordaan"-quarter with innumerable cafés, restaurants and boutique-shops etc. All other kinds of shops and supermarkets, as well as public transport are within easy walking distance. All major cultural and tourist attractions can be easily reached by either walking, bike or by public transport. In our direct neighborhood are a small park with benches and a playground as well as a public swimming pool (5 min. walk). Amsterdam is a beautiful, historic place with all you expect in a big city, while retaining a village-like atmosphere. Flat and compact with bikes as basic means of transport, also excellent for trips into the beautiful Dutch polder-landscape or the "Zaanse Schans" windmills. North Sea all-sandy beaches and dunes to be reached within ½-¾hour by car or public transport, lots of picturesque towns & villages like Haarlem / Alkmaar / Hoorn / Volendam / Marken. Great train connections:Leiden-Utrecht-The Hague-Delft-Rotterdam-Amersfoort-Alkmaar-Enkhuizen all within 1hr!
