We are a family of 11: Martin (70), Juliane (64), our daughter Janina (38) with her husband Stefan (38) and son Jakob (11) and daughter Nora (5), our sons Felix (30) with his wife Christina (33) and their son Louis (just born) and Marinus (26) and our daughter Laura (28). We have been doing house exchanges since 1999. We used to do our house exchanges with the entire family, but since the children have become students they travel with their friends. Therefore we are now looking for a house exchange as a couple. We share an avid passion for sports; in particular biking, hiking, swimming, skiing, and cross-country skiing. Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are looking for a house exchange 2024.
We live in a beautiful old house in rural Bavaria. We are 5 minutes from Lake Chiemsee, an hour from the Alps, and the cities of Munich (Germany) and Salzburg (Austria) both 70 km away. There are numerous villages in the region where one can go shopping or behold picturesque sights. We have a lush and rambling garden wrapped around the house with quiet spots to relax in the shade of trees, as well as a trampoline and pond. In the garden we have reconstituted the shed so now we have a very light and secluded study where you can relax and read, an outdoors but sheltered dining space, and finnish sauna. We have a kitchen, dining room, large lounge and study on the ground floor and a central fireplace in the living room. On the first floor we have 3 bedrooms, on the second 2, all can have up to 2 people - one room also includes a child's cot. Our bathroom is completly renovated and has a steam sauna.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a beautiful and safe neighbourhood. Breitbrunn is a small town on a shore of Lake Chiemsee, so the house is only a few minutes walk to the lake. 10 minutes down the road from our house is one of the most popular swimming places in Chiemsee, with a beach, playground, pontoon and a small cafe set back from the shore. On Lake Chiemsee are two islands, with a convent and the castle "Herrenchiemsee", which are nice to visit. Around the lake are various offers for water activities such as sailing or wind surfing. Aside from Chiemsee there are some smaller lakes close by, with some beautiful and quiet bays. A five minute walk from our house is a lovely Italian restaurant called Da Stefano which we regularily visit.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Aside from the immediate picturesque surroundings our house is half an hour from the alps, which offer stunning alpine walks through some incredible landscape. The nearest cities are Salzburg in Austria and Munich in Germany. Both cities offer a dose of modern culture, and the land in between is perfect for those who enjoys outdoor activities. There are numerous bike tracks as well as foot tracks, and most of the alpine walks have farmhouses which serve traditional beer and sausages for thirsty or hungry hikers. As for culture most villages have regular farmers and craft markets and beautiful churches dating back centuries. The most notable and famous attraction in the area is the castle of Herrenchiemsee, built on the Island of Herreninsel. This smaller version of the Palace of Versailles was built on the orders of Bavaria's 'Mad King' Lugwig in 1885. To call it a 'small' is an understatement, for one can spend a whole day exploring the neo-baroque palace and surrounding grounds.
