As told before, there are lots of small cafes and restaurants, they are all reasonably priced. Within walking distance, you can walk to the well-known Charlottenburg castle (5 min) that you can visit. There is a big park where you can go for a walk. Also very near (10 min by foot) there are several important museums like Berggruen collection (Picasso, Klee, Matisse, Giacometti), Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection (Dali, Max Ernst, Magritte, Masson et al) and Bröhan Museum (Jugendstil and art deco).
In our district Charlottenburg, there are lots of theatres, two opera houses and plenty of restaurants as well as cinemas. The famous Kurfürstendamm (Kudamm) is not far and is a shopping paradise. But of course, you won´t stay at Charlottenburg all the time, but go and see the countless places of attractions all over Berlin. Also Potsdam with Sansoucci castle is not far, you can go there by S-Bahn.
During the summer, there are lots of lakes where you can swim. The big forest Grunewald is a great place for a walk in every season. You can also do a tour by ship on the Spree (stops are about 15-20 min walk from here).
