Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Large 19th century bourgeois house in the historic center of Poitiers (Cathedral district), on three floors (ca. 300 sq. metres).
Our house keeps many original features (old parquet, high ceilings, moldings, old fireplaces). There is a small walled garden with a swings set for the children. We also have lots of toys for children. We offer 4 bedrooms (1 parents, 1 guest, 2 for children), and additional sleeping facilities on sofa beds. Please note : as it is an old and venerable house, it is not not suitable for disabled persons (many stairs).
We would appreciate your looking after our cat "Chatouille" and our hamster "Grougui". The cat likes to go out in the garden but the hamster stays in its cage. Not much to do, except fill the bowls !
The city is mainly pedestrian. We can lend a small city car to go on tour around the city. Our bikes, including our unique long-tailed bike (custom made), are available to guests.
Paris is 1h30 by train. From Poitiers, you can consider easy day trips by train to :
- La Rochelle (1h30)
- Bordeaux (1h20),
- Angoulême -international city of Comics and Image (40 minutes),
- Tours (45 minutes).

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Our house is ideally situated in the heart of historic Poitiers. While walking through the city, you will discover many masterpieces of Romanesque Art (Notre-Dame la grande), and Gothic Art (Cathedral, Palace of the Counts of Poitou and Dukes of Aquitaine...). But also the medieval district, with half-timbered houses.
Our neighborhood is very lively, with craftmen (historic manufactory of umbrellas), young designers... And in the evening, the warm atmosphere of a University town).
