We’re a couple in our seventies who has fallen in love with NYC and wouldn’t mind spending a week or two there every year. We have specified September - October, but are open to other dates provided we avoid peak summer and winter temperatures. If you have suggestions for 2020, we’re open for that too.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are Norwegians and live in Oslo. The apartment in Nice is our secondary home, where we spend about four months a year. Our two children and their families spend most of their summer vacation there. It is equipped with furniture, kitchen equipment, bed linen, towels etc as if it were our primary residence.
We bought it in 2003, primarily because of the terrace of 100 square meters. The apartment itself has 90 sq m, two bedrooms and two baths.
The two bedrooms are equipped with air condition, double glazing and a very effective ventilation system. It is on the second floor (third if you include the ground floor) with an elevator.
The apartment has two baths, one with a bathtub, the other a shower only. There are two separate toilets. One of the bedrooms has the bath and toilet "en suite".
The wifi has sufficient speed to stream movies. There is a Blue Ray player and a very large number of movies in the living room. Also a fair number og English language books. We will provide you with a user manual for the TV and internet.
One of the advantages of having a 100 sq m terrace, is to be able to take a break from the sightseeing and relax at home. We have tables and chairs both for sunbathing, lunch and long summer nights. There is a large parasol and an electrically controlled awning to provide shade.
We often invite friends to join us, as we find the apartment ideal for two couples who want to spend a few days together.
The neighborhood is very pleasant.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
oThe apartment is located in the center of Nice, which has a population of about 375 000, but also is part of a metropolitan area of about one million.
Which means that it has plenty to offer both in terms of shopping and culture.
Most things worth visiting are within a 20 minute walk from our home: 1,2 km to the beach, Cours Saleya (the old town market flower and antiques market) and the Opera, 1,4 km to the Port, 2,2 to the Matisse Museum, less than one km to the Chagall Museum and Place Garibaldi. The Airport is 7,3 km away and in June the streetcar is supposed to take your from the Airport Terminal to a stop only 650 meters from the apartment, for 1,5 €.
A regular taxi costs 32€ and Uber (which works perfectly fine in Nice) will cost ca 20€. Villefranche-sur-Mer is 4 km and a bus ride costing 1,5€ away. We do not keep a car in Nice. It's just about impossible to park in the city and public transportation is efficient and cheap. If you buy a card multivoyage (10 rides), it will cost you one € to go all the way to Monaco or even Menton on the Italian border. 1,5€ without the card.
The train station is also less that a km from the apartment and in our opinion train is the most practical way to go west to Antibes, Juan les Pins and Cannes.
If you want to go further west, for ex to Saint Tropez, or go visit some of the mountain top villages north of Nice, renting a car may be the best option. There are a number of car rentals by the railroad station.
There are plenty of bakeries, butchers, restaurants and supermarkets in the immediate neighborhood.
Both Carrefour and Moniprix (supermarkets just a few steps from home) brings free of charge if you buy for a certain minimum.
A walk ca 1,3 km north on the main shopping street, avenue Jean Medecin, will take you to a large open air "farmers' market" which is open from early morning till about 13 00 (the French are on military time) every day except Monday. There you will also find the best seafood and oyster restaurant in Nice, le Gambetta.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
In our experience when house swapping, the most practical arrangement is that you don’t feel you have to spend your last day cleaning house. It should be enough to leave the house I reasonable order with the dirty dishes etc in the dish washer.
