Hi! I'm an Australian journalist and my husband is an Irish high school teacher and we have lived on the French Riviera for over a decade - now with our two daughters. We love living in this corner of the world but are keen to use the summer holidays to explore other corners of the world. We moved into our flat at the start of 2019.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is a recently renovated 63m2, 2 bed 1 bathroom apartment in Villefranche-sur-Mer, a pretty seaside village between Nice and Monaco. The apartment is on the first and top floor (no elevator) of a small, centrally located (and quiet) block which is just outside the charming old town and next to the walls of the medieval Citadel. The kitchen and living space are open plan. We have a conservatory and 18m2 terrace with sea views. Easy public parking at our doorstep - weekly tickets can be purchased. The bus stop to Nice and Monaco is a 2-minute walk away, while the train station is a 10-minute walk. We have young children so plenty of toys etc and a bbq and playhouse on the terrace for the summer months.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Villefranche-sur-Mer is one of the prettiest spots on the French Riviera and has one of the coast's nicest beaches, which is an easy ten-minute walk from our house (we also have umbrellas and beach chairs). There are waterfront dining options, charming and colourful alleyways to explore, some art galleries, boat trips to take or boats to hire, a historic citadel with lovely gardens and plenty of entertainment (live music, outdoor cinema) in summer. Not to mention fireworks! Nice port is a 5-minute bus ride away while Monaco is half an hour away by bus. There are also some great walking tracks off the Grande Corniche above Villefranche, Eze and Monaco, as well as a very prestigious French language school which can be reached by foot. The village has 2 small supermarkets, while larger supermarkets are an easy drive away (or offer home delivery which we can introduce you to)
