Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Stone built French farmhouse, with a large garden, and dating from the late 1800s. Inside it is modern, but still French. There are three comfortable double bedrooms, large lounge and dining room, and a modern kitchen. Heating is via log burners in the communal areas, electric radiators in the bedrooms, and radiators in the bathroom and shower room. Its double glazed throughout and very cozy with the log burners going - although you won't need any of that in summer! Equally, thick stone walls mean that the house is comfortably cool when the outside weather is hot.
Set in the beautiful, green, undulating, countryside on the border of the Burgundy and Champagne regions of central France, our house is right in the middle of wine growing countryside. The village of Trichey is a small farming village, ( the population, "fully loaded," is 43, and we have no shops or bars) it's peaceful, very rural, and we have terrific neighbours - all French although some speak a little english - some are full time residents, some are Parisiens with holiday homes - Paris is about 2 hours by car, and less by train from the local town.
Our nearest city is Troyes, its centre has timber framed buildings dating back to medieval times, and history dating back to the crusades and beyond, but it also has restaurants, cafes, museums, galleries and shopping centres, its about 40 minutes away. Tonnerre, our local town, is 15 minutes away and has cafes bars restaurants and supermarkets - all you need to keep going! Chablis, the wine producing town, is about 30 minutes away and apart from the numerous wine tasting facilities also has a bustling typically French market on Sunday morning. In addition there are other local villages with chateaux, markets and the usual village amenities.
Our village sits in one of many small valleys in the area, and is well placed to explore by bike, or on foot, with abundant paths and tracks, and hardly any traffic on the roads - Burgundy has a population density of less than 1.5 people per square km, so cycling is reasonably care free.
The area is a relatively little know part of France, from a tourism point of view, and this, we think, adds to its "specialness."

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our village is very quiet, but we have a local bar 4km away, which has a very French, convivial atmosphere, with very welcoming locals and the well used boules pitch just opposite. 15 minutes away is a village with a beautiful chateau, golf course, and canal "port" where electric boats and bicycles can be hired.
