Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

St Privat des Pres dates from at least the 12th century (probably earlier) and although the village is quite quiet most of the time, there are many great sites to visit in the region, many rich in pre-history (e.g. the caves at Lascaux II). It is also a great place if you like to bike. The hills are undulating and little villages are dotted everywhere, making it quite exciting to go exploring by pedal power. A leisurely afternoon canoeing down the gentle Dronne river, just a stone's throw away, is also a great way to see the local countryside. The Dordogne/Charente region is of course the gastronomic centre of France being famous for ducks and geese; cheese, truffles, wine, etc etc. We keep a folder at the house with up to date details of all the sites and things to do in the area and have also drawn up a list of the main attractions. The Tourist office in nearby Riberac speaks reasonable English and always has the latest information as to what's on.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

Please leave our home in a neat and tidy state. On the day of departure, please strip the beds and put it all, together with all towels, on the floor in front of the washing machine. Also, please take all rubbish to one of the bins in the village and dispose of all perishables, We do have a strictly no smoking rule. It is best to close doors and windows when going out for the day as this part of France is known for its sudden storms. We expect the BBQ to be left clean and ready for use by the next families.
