We are from Austria. Our main residence is in the surrounding of Graz, the second largest city of Austria. Our holiday home is in Istria, Croatia.
We are both retired, however, we still work in our professions at times.
Nevertheless now there is time for our hobbies - traveling. Ingrid is a passionate painter and Peter writes novels.
We are interested in foreign cultures and languages, art, music, literature, regional food and wines. Ingrid loves hiking and snorkeling; Peter prefers biking and diving.
We both love the sea and the mountains.
We are constantly updating our knowledge of seamanship and navigation.
We have a daughter and a son, both grown up and happily married. Sometimes one of them will travel with us.

The view of the town from the window was absolutely amazing. Ingrid and Peter were so kind in helping us plan our vacation in Croatia before we arrived and during our stay. Vrsar became our favourite village in Istria.

Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

The apartment "Kempinski" is our second home, a lovely place, 75 sqm with high ceilings on the second floor (top floor) with panoramic sea view in the attractive coastal town of Vrsar (Orsera) in Istria, Croatia.
It consists of a spacious living-dining room with kitchenette and loggia with functional gas grill, one bedroom with double bed, one bedroom with single bed (plus folding bed if required), bathroom with shower and window.
The apartment is ideal for relaxing and exploring the peninsula of Istria with its hundreds of islands and bays and wonderful historical treasures. As it is our second home, we are flexible about schedules.
Our apartment is located in a quiet area, about 700 meters from the sea. From the 10 sqm loggia (balcony with roof and flexible windows) you will have a great view of the old town and the sea with its islands. You will enjoy the privacy and the wonderful sunsets there. Due to the windows, the loggia is a place to be even on windy days and in colder seasons. The apartment can be used the whole year round. There is air conditioning for very hot days and a fireplace for colder days.
Concerning car exchange, it depends on the kind of swap (simultaneous or non-simultaneous). It is a Fiat Panda 4 x 4.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

There are lots of excellent restaurants nearby. Two supermarkets are in walking distance. Medical care, pharmacy and post office nearby. Every place can be reached by foot or with our bikes.
The old town on the hill is famous for its natural beauty and in the harbour you can admire every kind of ships from fisher boats to luxury yachts. Various water sports are available nearby.
Within 10 minutes you can take a swim in the adriatic sea, the numerous beaches are all public, equipped with showers and steel or stone stairs. Sun chairs and umbrellas can be rented. On the beaches and at the harbour are cosy restaurants, coffee bars and pubs.
The coast of Istria is wellknown for sailors, campers, bikers, hikers and nature lovers.
The old town has small steep streets, old buildings and squares full of restaurans and bars. And wherever you go the beautiful sea view will impress you.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Vrsar (Orsera) is on the westcoast of Istria same latitude as Chioggia in Italy.
10 minutes North you are in Porec and 40 minutes South passing the spectacular Limski Fjord you can visit Rovinj.
Pula, Piran, Porto Roz and Trieste can easyly reached by car. In Porec they offer daily excursion to Venice by speed boat.
In the interior there is a beautiful landscape characterized by olive groves, vineyards and oak forests. Old villages on hills like Motovun, the 'capital' of truffles. On the menus there are delicious dishes and the famous Istrian wines Malvazija and Zlahtina.
