Exchanges finalized for 2022. Open to Canadian offers 2023 and British Columbia short term exchangers May-October.
We are Karen and Gail. Karen is originally from St. John's Newfoundland and Gail is from Dartmouth Nova Scotia. We are happily retired. We have a sweet young non shedding dog who will not be travelling with us, unless on short local exchanges. She will stay with friends while we are away. We are very experienced exchangers having done more than two dozen: Paris, Portugal, England, Spain, Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Canary Islands, Virgin Islands, Virginia, California, Manhattan, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and many weekend exchanges in British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest.
We spend our winters in our vacation home in Bucerias Nayarit Mexico. We would love to spend a week or so in other parts of Mexico during the winter months in exchange for our place there: three bedroom, three bathroom townhouse in a secure 24/7 gated community. Two community pools; 5 minute walk to beach.Contact me for details!

Read More...We really enjoyed our time at Karen and Gails lovely home. The home had everything we needed, we especially loved their deck area, where we spent a lot of time, it was so comfortable and overlooked their beautiful garden. So much information was left for us, maps clearly marked and trips suggested. We had a lot of friendly exchanges with Karen and Gail before and during our visit. The area where their home is, is a lovely neighborhood with easy access to park walks and shops. A very happy exchange experience. Thank you both

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Centrally located home in a great neighbourhood. Beautiful well tended garden which was featured on the annual charity tour for the Victoria Hospice a few years ago. It has an automatic sprinkler system so no plant care is needed. Large deck with natural gas grill outside kitchen door. Lovely views of surrounding area. Plenty of outdoor areas for relaxing in both sun and shade. We have a fabulous natural gas outdoor fireplace in the garden to enjoy on a cool evening + extra seating around a propane fireplace on the deck. The deck can be screened in to create an outside room- perfect to enjoy evening meals! We love our outdoor areas and spend much of our time outside. Fully equipped kitchen; two bedrooms each with queen beds; satellite tv; comfortable family room with electric fireplace and leather reclining sofa; living room with natural gas fireplace.
There is a separate entrance self contained one bedroom suite with a queen bed on the ground floor. It has a living area, beautiful kitchen and bathroom. It is perfect for non simultaneous exchanges. Depending on the size of your party, you can stay in the main house or the suite. For simultaneous exchanges, you have access to both areas. So in total we have three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two kitchens.
Laundry with washer, dryer and laundry tub is located in the garage and is accessible from both areas.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
This is a lovely area with miles of trails and parkland just behind our home. Our neighbours are friendly and helpful. We love the convenience of our location-it's like the hub of a wheel as we are an easy drive to the city centre, the airport, the ferries, "up-island", beaches and golf courses. Within a five minute walk is a large shopping area with grocery store, liquor store, bookstore, pharmacy, restaurants, neighbourhood coffee shop, hairdresser, dentist, medical clinic and much more. Also within walking distance: recreation centre with pool and library and many casual and fine dining restaurants. There is a neighbourhood pub across from the bus stop 3-5 minute walk. There are numerous walking trails that literally go for kilometres throughout the entire Greater Victoria area. We consider our neighbourhood to be a hidden gem in the Victoria area.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are about 15 minutes north by car to the world famous Butchart Gardens via a lovely country road with farm stands and country markets, Victoria airport and 20 minutes to the mainland and gulf island ferries.
15 minutes west will take you to the TransCanada Highway to drive "up island" to the towns of Duncan, Chemainus (world famous murals) or Coombs- on the way to the Pacific coast towns of Ucluelet and Tofino with kilometres of sandy beaches. Canada's "Pacific Rim National Park" is located there as well.
15 minutes south takes you to our beautiful Inner Harbour featuring our Legislative Building (stunning at night with the thousands of lights), fantastic Royal BC Museum, The Empress Hotel, funky shops, pubs and restaurants. From the Inner Harbour you can go on an Orca whale watching tour; take a salmon fishing tour, take an overnight trip to Seattle Washington via the catamaran or take a day trip on the ferry to Port Angeles Washington USA. 10-15 minutes east you will find beautiful parks and beaches such as Cadbury Bay, Mount Douglas Park, and Cordova Bay Golf Course.
During the summer months there are always events happening in the downtown area, such as the Dragon Boat Festival, Buskers Festival, The Symphony Splash and so much more.
