I am a single women. I am a retired accountant. I have always been an active person and retirement has allowed me to spend more time on my activities. I am also civic minded and currently sit on Parks and Recreation Committee in an advisory role for improvement to all park and recreation facilities in my municipality. In addition I am a director for my local racquet center. I am studying french as a second language and hope to use home exchanges to advance my ability to speak french. I am an avid gardener and recently became a Master Gardener. Though I am single I am likely to travel with a friend from time to time. Covid has really frustrated my passion for travel and I look forward to opportunities recommence my exploration of the world.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
My home is a 2 bedroom stand alone home. Both bedrooms have queen beds. Overall it has 1000 square feet of living space and only one bathroom. The kitchen has relatively new appliances including a convection/microwave oven. Off the dining room is a large covered patio with an area for dining including a barbeque and an area for sitting. I am a passionate gardener and have a large back yard with perennial beds and a vegetable garden. The garden is on an irrigation system. There is a basement suite that is occupied by my tenant. My tenant will be a resource for help of any sort.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My home is located in the Okanagan Valley, in Summerland B.C. It is about an eight minute walk to downtown Summerland. It is a five minute drive to several beaches on Okanagan Lake, an eighty mile long lake of which 7 municipalities are located on it's shores. My house is within walking distance of Giants Head Mountain, one of our most notable hiking trails. Within a few minutes drive there is hiking at Conkle Mountain and Cartwright Mountain. Other trails include the Kettle Valley Trail and the Trans Canada Trail. Summerland has tennis courts and pickleball courts. One of the greatest features of the Okanagan Valley is the over 200 wineries. Summerland has 22 wineries. Our closest urban center is Penticton B.C. also located on Okanagan Lake but it's southern border is on Skaha Lake. Penticton and the South Okanagan have over 170 wineries. There are several craft beer breweries. Summerland is approximately a 40 minute drive to Kelowna a large urban center for shopping options, more wineries and many other recreational options.

See comments in the nature of my neighborhood. Other attractions in the greater area including Penticton B.C. include rock climbing on Skaha Bluffs and hiking, more walking on the Kettle Valley Trail. Summerland has several restaurants all minutes away including an English style pub. Our newest restaurant and bar is Shaunessey's located on the lake. Summerland has one 18 hole golf course and a smaller 9 hole golf course. My home is a 45 minute drive to Apex Mountain, a very good ski hill with nearby cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
