We are recently retired professionals - Cheryl as a University Professor and Rob as an Educational consultant. Our two children (son and daughter) are both grown up, working in jobs they really like, and making their way very nicely in the world.
We have completed several house exchanges over the years and found them all very successful - and a great way to travel and learn about new places.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our Queen's Park neighbourhood is a 5 x 5 block area in New Westminster that is noted for its older, craftsman style character homes, quiet streets, and lots of trees and gardens. Bounded by the large Queen's Park on the east and Sixth Street on the west (a well-developed commercial street), it is a great neighbourhood for walking and is close to bicycle trails and public transit. There is very good local shopping and an assortment of restaurants and cafes. It is definitely one of the more desirable neighbourhoods in greater Vancouver.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We live in a quiet neighbourhood but can walk to most of the stores and services we need, including 2 supermarkets, 1 health food store, 1 bakery, 3 pharmacies, 3 coffee shops, a wide variety of restaurants (Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Greek, Malaysian, French Canadian, German, Italian, Thai, Mongolian Grill, Canadian), and a wide range of retail stores in the two nearby malls and along Sixth Street and adjoining streets. There are 2 live theatres within walking distance and you can easily walk to 2 large parks with extensive outdoor recreational and sports facilities, as well as 2 community centres. If this is not enough, Vancouver is a wonderful and diverse cosmopolitan city that is only 30-45 minutes away.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We are responsible home owners and keep our house clean and in good condition. We will be respectful of exchange houses we stay in and will leave them at least as clean and well-stocked as we find them. We expect the same from our exchange partners.
