Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our 3-Bedroom, 2 Bath, cottage is on a small lake called Bass Lake in Muskoka, Ontario. There is also a bunkie/studio that has a futon in it that could sleep 2 people. Our cottage is close to Port Carling, MacTier, Parry Sound, Bala, Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. Our cottage faces down the lake and has the best view of the lake. It is a magical place in almost any season. Our cottage is available from mid-May to mid-October (excluding July and August. One of the best times to visit Muskoka is when the fall leaves turn. The colours are just amazing.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Muskoka has been rated as one of the best spots to vacation in Canada. Part of the Canadian Shield you will find rocky shorelines and pristine lakes throughout. There is lots to do within a short driving distance of our cottage or you can just relax and do nothing and enjoy the hummingbirds, chick-a-dees, blue jays, chipmunks and squirrels. Occasionally, you will see a beaver or a muskrat swimming by and we have had wild turkeys and a fox drop by for a visit as well.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The historic villages/towns of Port Carling, Bracebridge, Bala and Gravenhurst are all close by. One of the most popular activities close by it to take a cruise on the famous H.M.S. Segwin, H.M.S. Wenona or the Island Queen Cruise. They are all only 20-40 min. drive away. Checking out the museums in Port Carling and Gravenhurst to find out the history of the steamships is also something to consider as is checking out the Photo Mural in Port Carling and the locks. One of our favourite restaurants is the Sherwood Inn for a special evening or the Bass Lake Roadhouse for a more casual outing to enjoy their famous wings or a pickerel dinner. Toronto is only 2 hours away.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
While the cottage can sleep 8 people, our preference is that you limit your party to 6 individuals as we are on a septic system. While the water from the lake is safe to drink, our preference is always to purchase water or fill up our jugs from the city water tap in either MacTier or Port Carling. Small pets are OK. Smoking is not allowed inside the cottage because one of the owners is highly allergic to cigarette smoke.
