Originally from West Yorkshire, UK, I emigrated to SW Ontario in 1968 and having done much traveling during that time led me to The Sunshine Coast of BC where I settled 18 years ago having found 'Paradise.'
My home is close to the Ocean separating the mainland from Vancouver Island. Vancouver is just a 40 minute scenic ferry crossing from here. We have the best of both worlds - peaceful surroundings, little traffic, boutique shops, bistros, yet close for a city visit.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My home is situated within a 5 minute walk of the pretty seaside town of Lower Gibsons. The town is basically known as Lower Gibsons and Upper Gibsons: "Upper " being more commercial and supermarket retail. "Lower " offers boutique shops, restaurants, bistros and waterfront walks. The indoor public market, museum, library, post office, visitor centre are all located within a 10 minute walk, alongside terrraced homes and beautiful gardens.
Gibsons residential water if supplied by an aquifer which has been honoured as being the best drinking water in North America.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Gibsons is a very attractive resort town featuring spectacular ocean vistas from various vantage points.
Sechelt is a 25 minute drive along a coastal road and offers sea plane sight-seeing tours. the 20 minute sea plane flights to YVR South Terminal with a 10 minute ground shuttle to YVR International is an alternative choice of the ferry to reach Vancouver.
The Ravens Cry cinema in Sechelt shows satellite transmissions from London's West End theatres and Metropolitan Opera. An indigenous museum and gift shop.
The Sunshine Coast has many hiking/biking trails through woodland and old growth forests. Boat charters available to visit outlying Islands. Kayaking along the oceanside or Inlet. It is an active lifestyle community for sports, theatre, music. Artists and artisans are prolific, having the most per capita in Canada.
