Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

First, please watch this video https://youtu.be/eH7NbdIgPNM

Our home is on 3 acres, nestled along a gently-sloping hillside with 250 ft. of lakefront. The cozy house is post & beam, chalet-style, with views of Lawrencetown Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. We are 30 kms from Halifax; a vibrant, historic city with lots to see and do. The shallow lake is perfect for canoeing and kayaking, both of which are available for guest use. We are 1 kilometer from Lawrencetown Beach and the Trans-Canada Trail. Lawrencetown Beach is considered to be one of the best places to surf, windsurf, and kiteboard on the Atlantic Coast. The Trail winds along the coast and marshlands, and offers biking and hiking for many miles in both directions. Many different species of wildlife and waterfowl can be seen along the trail. Watch great blue herons, osprey and bald eagles diving, hunting for fish, and soaring overhead. We have wonderful neighbours, a vegetable and perennial garden, and a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs, perfect for star gazing.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Before you go any further... if you haven't watched the drone video mentioned on the first page, please do! It will give you an excellent aerial view of our location. Check it out at https://youtu.be/eH7NbdIgPNM

Our neighbourhood is a very friendly, clean, picturesque rural setting. Our location is very quiet with the occasional evening sounds of owls and coyotes in the distance. Pheasants and deer wander through the yard and several species of songbirds frequent the bird feeders. In addition to the Trans-Canada Trail system that is within walking distance from our house, you can also "rough it" with hikes into the woods for several kms. However, if you want to enjoy a more cosmopolitan moment or two, the city of Halifax is only a 25 min away along a beautiful, winding coastal drive. Halifax is a vibrant, small city with a stunning harbour and excellent eateries that serve the very freshest seafood and offer you amazing local beers and wines.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

We have several small cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area that can be accessed by car or by biking on the Trans Canada Trail. There are also a few Surf Shops that rent surf boards, wet suits and paddle boards that can be used in the ocean or on several of the lakes nearby. They also offer surf and paddleboard lessons for beginners. There is also a horseback riding stable a five minute walk from our house.
