Lorne and I have been married for over 30 years and have 2 grown sons. We have lived in our home in the beautiful Comox Valley for 22 years. I am a French Immersion teacher and Lorne is a salesperson for Ford. Our commute time to work is under 10 minutes. We love the semi-rural lifestyle that we lead and do many things outdoors. Lorne is a golfer and an avid gardener. He has created a beautiful garden which many of our friends enjoy as well as our. He is a golfer and takes full advantage of the many public courses just minutes away from us. We take ballroom classes and love dancing together in the historic Native Sons Hall in Courtenay. I love the outdoors and spend much time hiking, kayaking, cross-country skiing and cycling. I am bilingual (French and English) and have a passion for languages. I am currently learning Spanish. We have wonderful neighbors who are also our friends. They will be happy to make your stay easier when in our home,

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live 10 minutes by car away from the quaint towns of Courtenay and Comox. This is a rural residential area which is close to nature and forest trails leading to Seal Bay Park. The homes are all privately owned and lived in by owners. Properties range from half an acre to 5 acres. People that live in this area love to garden, connect with nature, bicycle, golf, kayak and hike. It is not unusual to see a rider on horseback in the trails or on our street. Step out of our door and walk into magnificent trails with giant trees such as Cedar and Douglas Fir. There are kilometers of trails right across the street that will lead you all the way to the ocean for a picnic. Our neighbors are friendly and helpful and most have pets such as dogs and cats. We have lived in this house for 21 years and found our home and area an ideal place to raise 2 sons. They grew up playing outdoors and experiencing nature all around them in this safe, quiet, clean and beautiful environment. Lucky us!

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Nature! Kilometers of trails through incredibly beautiful forest of Cedar, Douglas Fir in one of our many parks such as Seal Bay Park and Nymph Falls. Hike along the Puntlege River, jump in for a pristine swim or tube down the river for a fun ride. Walk along our many beaches, swim in the ocean, build a fire for a hot dog roast, kayak or canoe and see eagle and blue herons soar above you while seals frolic around. Watch the sunset over the Comox Glacier and the twinkle of cruise ships heading up to Alaska. Visit Mount Washington and Strathcona Park for mountain hiking and lakes or skiing in the winter. Take the scenic chairlift for incredible views. Go whale watching or salmon fishing out of Campbell River. Visit Courtenay and Comox for shopping, restaurants, concerts and various community activities. Stop into I-HOS to learn about our First Nation community and shop for native art. Buy fresh seafood from the dock or local bison at the farmer's market. Visit Cumberland and Comox Lake.
