Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our home is a west coast style bungalow on Cortes Island one of beautiful British Columbia's northern Discovery Islands. The Discovery Islands are located between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia.

Getting to Cortes Island is part of the experience and the magic of living here. We are somewhat remote which requires a sense of adventure. Once you arrive on Vancouver Island, you will need to take two vessels from the British Columbia Ferry fleet. The first trip is a short ten-minute ride from Campbell River to Quadra Island and then after a ten-minute drive across Quadra Island, you will then take a forty-minute ferry from Herriot Bay to Whaletown on Cortes Island. With any luck you might even see a pod of Orca whales as they frequent these waters throughout the year.

Our home is located near the small community of Mansons Landing, which is a twenty-minute drive from Whaletown. Our neighbourhood is called "Siskin Lane".

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home sits within a neighbourhood called Siskin Lane. Siskin Lane was developed with environmental conscience in mind. Each property is approximately 3-4 acres in size, surrounded by maturing douglas timber. Our neighbourhood has a developed trail system as part of our community. The trails will lead you to Smelt Bay in an easy 15 minute walk. Smelt Bay is part of the Smelt Bay Provincial Park. White sand beaches and warm waters in the summer, attract many tourists.
