Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

From our home you can bike to Wakefield along River Road. It takes about 10-15 minutes. River Road is a popular cycling route for local cycling clubs as it is so scenic and not busy. In the summer months River Road is closed on Sundays to local traffic only between 9am-1pm to allow for "Bike Days". Up the road about 1km is a popular local breakfast place and pub called La Vallee Restaurant. A 5-minute drive in the opposite direction will bring you to our local grocery store and SAQ outlet (liquor and wine
sold). You can also purchase wine and beer at all grocery stores and corner stores called "Depanneur's" in Quebec. There is a public dock less than 1 km away where you can swim and launch our canoe and kayak. You will see locals fishing along the way on the bridge. The Cascade Club on the river is a local volunteer-driven club and also is host to a 1/2 dozen award winning Dragon Boat teams that practice on the river several times a week.
