Description of the home we are offering for exchange
A bright, elegant and spacious house with modern yet cosy interior in a small rural village with vista over the fields.
The house has all amenities for even the most demanding guests. Our guests can enjoy their own private quarters. All beds are queen size and offer a comfortable night rest. We have a well equipped open kitchen with a spacious dining room. White colored walls and ceilings and a light colored natural oak floor set the tone around the house and create a relaxing atmosphere while artwork gives color to the rooms. Designer furniture add a touch of luxury and an in house home theatre room with almost 1000 dvd/blu-ray titles is at your disposal. Solar energy, extensive insulation measures, LED lights, rain water recuperation, solar heating and a bee friendly (roof) garden, provide both comfort and peace of mind. There is no airconditioning, but we manage to keep the house quite cool in summer. The house has many staircases of which two are quite steep. For this reason and the delicate artwork, we do not recommend little children, but we might consider. Our house offers a small sunny garden with wild flowers which is a feast for both birds and bees. With lots of privacy and two big terraces of wich one is a roof terrace adjacent to the guest quarters, our garden will promote your holiday feeling!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Munte is a small rural village at the foot of the Flemish Ardennes and a stone's throw from the city of Ghent. We're located on a 50 meter high hill overlooking the countryside. So needles to say we have great vista's. Although it might look time stood still in our village square, our community boosts energy with activities throughout the summer. Wandering and biking paths leading you through meadows and fields start at our doorstep and yet the city of Ghent is only 15 kilometers (less than 10 miles) away. We are less than 10 minutes driving away from the motorway, which gives you opportunity to easily get around our tiny country... and the neighbouring countries. In Belgium, abroad is never far away!
In this village people still know their neighbours and we care for each other. Our elder neighbouring lady is the best neighbour one can wish for.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
In the immediate surroundings of our village there is plenty to do and see! Medieval eyecatchers like Gent (Ghent), Brugge (Bruges), Antwerpen (Antwerp), Oudenaarde and Brussel (Brussels) are less than one hour driving away. Gent is reachable by direct bus in less than 45 minutes (or 20 minutes by car). The bus stops at our door and in the very heart of the city; so no fuss with parking! These cities give ample of opportunities to shop, visit and taste the finest our country has to offer.
We have a surprisingly amount of nature that is typical for Flanders. Meadows and fields, wild flowers, a coastal area with beautiful sandy beaches and dunes and forests big and small that boost with birds and small wildlife. The best features are the many marked wandering and (mountain) biking paths that form a grid, leading you to the very heart of nature, or the centre of the town. The choice is yours.
A nice contrast are the many cultural activities Flanders has to offer. Our opera houses are amongs the very best, and several of our museums rank very high or host award winning exhibitions. And I haven't even started about our dining culture. So much to do and see! We take great satisfaction in taking you of the beaten path and show you amazing places. Will you let us surprise you?
Note worthy are 2019: SMAK (Museum for modern and contemporary art) 'Highlights for the future' exhibition and 2020: 400 years Jan van Eyck 'Adoration of the mystic lamb'.
London, Paris and Amsterdam are less than 3 hours away by train. Our coastline and sandy beaches are 1 hour driving by car or train. Forests within walking distance.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Our house is our kingdom. We gladly invite you as our guests, but expect you to treat our house and belongings with the utmost respect. It goes without saying that this works both ways. We would love to entertain you, show you all the neat places in the wide surroundings, let you smell the perfume of the outdoors, soak you in cultural activities and spoil you with good and honest food experiences. We can set you on the right track or share the experience togheter, whatever suits you fine.
And when the sun set, it might be the right time for taking out the board games or to share tales with a good glass of wine...
