Informations about the house, its environment were extensive (like where we could walk the dog or have a meal in the area). Gent Centre was within walking distance. There was ample information about the towns' tourist and cultural activities. Parking was no problem, we had to pay some, but the amount was reasonable. We got a very nice impression of the family, the house and the city. Well worth repeating.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have an exchange for the summer 2017 (from 17/7 until 5/8) in the Loire Atlantique, France. Would be interested in a short follow-on exchange in France from 5/8 onwards and possibly in a short exchange from 12/7 to 17/7 in France.
Our (almost completely) renovated terraced house is located on a quiet residential street in Ghent, "Belgium's fourth-largest and most beautiful city", according to Tripadvisor.
Ghent was one of the most important cities in medieval northern Europe, and boasts lots of impressive sights as a result: the Count's castle, the Belfry, Saint-Nicolaschurch, Saint-Bavo's Catherdral with the Van Eyck masterpiece The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, etc. But Ghent is also a very vibrant modern city, with a lively cultural scene.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Ghent was one of the most important cities in medieval northern Europe, and boasts lots of impressive sights as a result: the Count's castle, the Belfry, Saint-Nicolaschurch, Saint-Bavo's Catherdral with the Van Eyck masterpiece The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, etc. But Ghent is also a very vibrant modern city, with a lively cultural scene, excellent cafés and restaurants and lots of interesting independent shops.
A ten minute bike ride or a short bus ride takes you from our house to the centre of town. Dampoort railway station is within walking distance (15 min). From there direct trains take you to Bruges (35 min), the seaside (Ostend: 50 min) or Antwerp (45 min). Brussels is 45 min away by train (change over at Gent Sint-Pieters station). Located near the junction of the E17 and E40 highways, Ghent is an ideal base for exploring Belgium and its neighbouring countries by car. Lille (France) is an hour's drive, while Amsterdam is about 2,5 hours.
