Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a unique village in hilly terrain near the Yarra River.
It is a residential and rural suburb 24 km north-east of central Melbourne.
It has also been named the most liveable suburb in Melbourne recently.
Warrandyte's main street follows the edge of the Yarra River, and includes several historic buildings, the shopping centre and numerous arts and crafts outlets. The well-known Potters' Cottage reception venue is nearby and a beautiful Italian restaurant and winery called Olivigna.
Warrandyte has a monthly community market and considerable affection for its historic Mechanics' Institute, the performance venue for the Warrandyte Theatre Company. There is a visitor information centre, a museum and a community centre which includes a public library.
The township is also the gateway to the Warrandyte State Park which includes an 8km riverside reserve of extending to Wonga Park, the historic Pound Bend Reserve, Longridge Park, and features such as Whipstick Gully in the former gold diggings area.
There are so many beautiful walks and scenic hikes minutes from our home.
We also have many cafes, plant nurseries and other retail opportunities ranging from everyday essentials to quirky artistry.
Many come to enjoy the country like atmosphere barely half an hour from the CBD off peak .
One can take a bus into the Melbourne CBD from a bus stop 10 minutes walk from our home .
We are also about a half hour drive from the Yarra Valley region filled with wineries and gourmet foodie trails.
Warrandyte is also a very safe community where residents are caring and kind always looking out for each other .We know you will love where we live as much as we do for the past 33 years .

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We live minutes away from Pound Bend Tunnel , a lovely picnic swimhole and wild life frequented Park .There are also lots of bike trails and river walks to enjoy at your leisure.. You can also kayak or canoe along the river safely viewing wildlife and enjoying nature at its best .
The village township filled with cafes , galleries and craft shops is a 10min stroll through beautiful Bushscape .We belong to a Community Chutch that is vibrant and actively serving the community.
Horse riding is also available through the Bush and easily accessible through a riding school nearby .
Shopping for food can be done locally at the Quintons IGA which caters for all gourmet tastes and we highly recommend the local butcher who supplies high quality meats
The Aumans Family Orchards caters for the high end shoppers looking for the ultimate dining cuisines from all over the world and it also has a barista to make you your coffee while you shop !

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We would like to find our home left clean and tidy as it was left.
No excessive noise after 11 pm to ensure a peaceable neighbourhood.
We also would discourage use of outdoor shoes for inside the home.
Minimal plant care (i.e. watering) is required as we will engage a gardener to visit once a month if exchange is for an extended period of time.
