We are a married couple in our sixties. I am a School Counsellor at a local Secondary school. Geoff is a retired secondary school teacher . We have one married adult son who is working and living in Surrey UK at present. We enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures and destinations. We like a nice wine and appreciate good food. We both like a wide range of music particularly live music. We are interested in the Arts and visit art galleries and museums whenever we go somewhere new. Beautiful landscapes and gardens are also something we appreciate, as well as learning about local history. We are social people and enjoy nothing better than meeting up with friends.
We have a 12 year old English Golden Cocker Spaniel named Toby but when we are away we usually arrange for him to be cared for. We enjoy the company of animals and have owned a variety of pets over the years.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our comfortable home is located in a scenic, rural area on the Far North Queensland tropical coast. The house is set out all on one level, with a modern, well equipped kitchen, a dining room, large lounge/living room, a large bathroom with a bath and shower, plus 4 bedrooms and an office/study, with wireless internet available.
One of our favourite spots is the outdoor paved & covered area, where you can relax, sit back and enjoy our colourful tropical garden; as well as watching the local wildlife; including lots of native birds, butterflies and sometimes wallabies. It is a great place for a barbeque and or a meal/drink with friends.
The closest town to us is Innisfail, which is 10 minutes away by car. Innisfail is an attractive town with Art Deco buildings and a wide range of services and facilities including; three supermarkets, cafe's, coffee shops and a variety of specialty stores, a public swimming pool, library plus public playgrounds and parks. A range of sporting and recreational activities are available; such as a small golf course, tennis courts, pony club, rowing club, gyms, cricket and football fields; as well as walks, bicycle paths.
We are a 1 hour drive South of Cairns and about 50 minutes drive North from Mission Beach, both of which offer easy access to the Great Barrier Reef with snorkelling, swimming, scuba diving etc. In 10 to 20 minutes by car, we can reach either a lovely beach or walk in some beautiful tropical rainforest.
You can leave your warm, winter woolies behind, as our winter here is lovely, with temperatures generally around 24 to 27 degrees Centigrade with lovely clear, blue skies!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is in a rural setting, so is quiet and peaceful. We have neighbors who are helpful and friendly when we see each other. The blocks of land are large, so neighbouring houses are not situated close together. The road in front of our home is not busy, so there is little traffic noise. The views around us are of rainforested mountains and farms( sugarcane, bananas).
