Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Now looking for 2023 - almost anywhere. We're very flexible with dates as we are both retired.
Brisbane is the capital of Queensland, the Sunshine State. Our house is situated in a quiet, forested area of Brisbane in the foothills of the mountains, a short drive to shops, restaurants, bus stops and train. It is modern and spacious, with a large, private backyard and outdoor living area. We have beautiful weather for most of the year but summers are very hot and humid so the entire house is air-conditioned. There's also a fireplace for cosy winter evenings.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The Gap is in the foothills of the D'Aguilar Range, a quiet, peaceful suburb but only 20 minutes drive from the centre of the city. You'll wake to the sound of a variety of birds and possibly see possums in the trees or hear one walking over the roof. The house itself is in a cul-de-sac so there is no traffic. Two bus stops are within walking distance or you can drive 10 minutes to the train station.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
From our house, it's a 3 minute drive to Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre and café. (or a lovely 20 minute hike) Continue driving and you're in the mountains - Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious - with many bush walks, lookouts, picnic areas, cafes and the famous Dr Red winery. (He makes cancer-fighting wines, punch and teas). We also have a network of walking/bicycle paths and pony trails.
Brisbane is halfway between the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, and there is a man-made beach in the centre of the city. You can do day trips to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, Dreamworld, Sea World, Movie World, Wet 'n' Wild, White Water World, and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is in Brisbane itself.
