Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live in an older established neighbourhood at Woody Point with some newer homes. We are on the Redcliffe Peninsula. There is bus and train transport available. We are next to a physiotherapist, a newsagent, a butcher, a laundromat and a cafe.

Redcliffe was the original settlement in Queensland, before it moved to Brisbane, so is quite historical. Redcliffe is still a major fishing area with takeaway and restaurants metres from the trawlers at the northern end of the peninsula (5km away).

There are supermarkets, many restaurants and cafes within 1 to 3 km, quite walkable.
We are 600m from the beach at Scott's Point on Moreton Bay. It is a safe beach with no surf, so great for water sports and kids.
The climate here is quite mild in winter, mostly minimums around 7-11'C and maximums around 17-24'C. Summers are hot with maximums around 30-35'C and minimums around 20'C. Summers are also quite humid, often above 60%. Weather is ideal April/May and September to November.

The Sunshine Coast is only an hour's drive north and the Gold Coast is from 90-120 mins drive south depending on which end you head for. There are many major tourist attractions within 45 to 90 mins drive eg Australia Zoo, Maleny and the Glasshouse Mts, surf beaches, Dreamworld, Seaworld, Movie World, Wet and Wild, etc.

Redcliffe is 40 mins north of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and only 25 mins from Brisbane international airport. Brisbane has many cultural activities eg the Cultural Centre (art, theatre, concerts, museum) on South Bank plus the South Bank entertainment precinct. Great views of the Brisbane from Mt Cootha.
