We are a family of five, with an 11 year old boy and two girls, 8 and 5. Our children are respectful and careful with their own, and others, possessions. I'm very tidy and a mum that likes her house kept clean, it's expected of them! We are a 'no shoes inside' house and ask this of our guests too.
I'm a part-time working mother, my career is as an actor and independent theatre producer, and I also work evenings, front of house, in a couple of Perth theatres. My husband works full-time in his trade at Epiroc Australia (an international company with offices near London), and is also a musician, when this is possible around supporting a young family.
I spent many years in the UK as a child, my mother was from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, and my father is an academic, so we travelled there frequently for his work and to visit her family, I attended school there sometimes. I also lived in London for some years after finishing drama school.
I want my children to get to experience the fun of living, travelling and schooling in England like I did, travelling to the UK for an extended stay rather than a brief holiday.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have recently renovated our delightful, but tiny, weatherboard ‘worker’s cottage’ (built 1926) into a two storey home. We love our 'new' home and also the fantastic lifestyle that comes with living in a thriving inner city location with a wonderful local community.
Our home has four bedrooms upstairs, three with wardrobes, one currently configured as a nursery, two kid's rooms with single beds, a spare room with a queen bed, a bathroom with shower and bath and a separate toilet. As we would like a long swap, we would prefer to store some of our things in one of the upstairs rooms, and keep it unused, but this is negotiable. Downstairs is the master bedroom, with a king-size bed, another large bathroom with bath and shower and powder room. There is a beautiful, light-filled, open plan kitchen, dining and family room as well as a cosy lounge/library with a gas fireplace in the original front part of the house. There is a european laundry with a separate storage/mud room next door.
We have a good-sized private front outdoor area, with security-gated fence, a great patio for entertaining and a lovely native-planted easy-care garden, which does require some hand-watering during the dry months from November to March. The home is very secure with friendly neighbours on three sides.
We have a gentle, elderly, black cat (Danny) that is free to roam during the day but must be brought in at nightfall - to protect him from cars and the roosting birds from him.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The best cafe strip in Perth is only one minute's walk from our front door. There is a huge range of restaurants, lots of Asian eateries but also Italian, burgers, pizza, fish and chips, pubs and bars, gelato and bubble tea cafes, the list goes on and on.
East Vic Park is only 6km from the central city and has several regular bus routes. There are also bike paths through to the city and lovely paths for riding around the Swan River. You could easily live here without a car but we have one available should you wish to use it. The beach is approx 25 minutes by car.
All the necessary shops, post office, supermarket, Kmart, multiple chemists, hairdressers, bakeries, are within five minutes walk.
We have a multicultural and caring community, with lots of young families and city workers.
Several parks, primary and high schools, the public pools, and our local library, are all within walking distance.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
From our house it’s less than a minute walk to arguably the most thriving cafe strip in Perth. Of particular note are the plentiful Asian eateries. Also all the usual fun of local pubs and bars.
Despite this, our home is on a quiet, peaceful, street with only more busyness in the form of parking for the local restaurants taking place on the weekend.
We are only 6km into the centre of Perth. It’s two minutes walk to the bus stop and very regular busses into the city. Or a 15 minute walk to the train station.
A five minute walk to the supermarket and all other shops you might need, chemist, bakery etc.
It’s ten minutes walk to our local library on the edge of a great park with playground. If you want to, and we frequently do, it’s only twenty minutes walk to our nearest public pool facilities. Or you can bike or bus down to the beautiful Swan River. As Perth is a beach city, we often do the 25 minute drive down to Port Beach in Freo.
We feel that we truly live in a ‘village’ at the edge of the city and we love it!
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We have recently finished extensive renovations to our home, she has been almost completely rebuilt, as such you will be living in a practically new home and we ask that you are respectful and gentle with it as we will be with yours. We are a ‘no shoes indoors’ family and request that you are as well when you are living in our home. We don’t have a cleaner but can arrange for one to come fortnightly should you prefer.
We have a friendly, elderly cat that is allowed to roam in the day and comes in at night but is contained to the front part of our home. We can organise a neighbour to feed and care for him if you travel away overnight.
We have a small low maintenance native planted garden that I have enjoyed creating, we will need it hand-watered when necessary in winter and every few days in summer. This is a very enjoyable activity on a warm evening in the glow of our gumtree’s fairy lights with a glass of wine in hand!
