Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our large family home in North Fitzroy is in a highly popular location close to park, public transport and shops. The Edinburgh Gardens are a two minute walk away, the tram down Brunswick St into the city centre is at the end of our street, and the lively shopping and eating strips of Brunswick St, Rathdowne St and Smith St are close by. Our home comprises 4 bedrooms (1 king, 3 queen), 2 living areas, a study, 2 full bathrooms and powder room, a separate laundry, downstairs courtyard and upstairs balcony. It is a very comfortable home with all you need and in a perfect location for seeing the sights and getting around Melbourne.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our street is wide and tree lined. We know many of our neighbours and they are very friendly. The Edinburgh Gardens around the corner attract many people from surrounding suburbs, with walking/bike tracks, two children’s playgrounds, a skate park, football oval, plenty of spots to picnic, dog walking areas, and are a hub of activity on weekends. Our local pub, the Lord Newry Hotel, is a popular eating, drinking and meeting place. The tram at the end of our street is the No. 11 and runs down Brunswick St through the city to Victoria Harbour Docklands in one direction and to West Preston in the other. The tram on the next street is the No. 96 running down Nicholson St through the city to St Kilda Beach in one direction and to East Brunswick in the other. There is also another tram close by, the No. 86, which runs through High St Northcote and Thornbury to Bundoora in one direction and to Waterfront City Docklands in the other - all easy ways to get around town and see the sights of inner Melbourne. A car share service is also available nearby. North Fitzroy Village in St Georges Rd has a supermarket and a number of bars, cafes and restaurants; and in the other direction Brunswick St is full of bars, eateries, cafes, new and vintage clothing shops and other retail. There is also a public pool and gym about 200 metres away on Alexandra Pde.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our house is a 15 minute tram ride or 30 minute walk to the city on either the No.11 down Brunswick St or the No. 96 down Nicholson St. The Melbourne Museum and (UNESCO World Heritage listed) Royal Exhibition Building with its Dome Promenade is accessible from the No. 96 tram. The world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is a 20 minute tram ride or 40 minute walk away. Southbank Promenade on the banks of the Yarra in the city has the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), and many eateries and bars along the bank. Yarra river cruises can also be taken from Princes Wharf next to Federation Square. Fed Square as it is known, is a great place to eat, visit ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) or The Ian Potter Centre (part of the NGV). Bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs are plentiful in the surrounding neighbourhood - check out not only Brunswick St, but Smith St (Fitzroy/Collingwood) Rathdowne St (North Carlton) and Lygon St (Carlton and further up in East Brunswick). The Nova Cinemas inside Lygon Court Carlton has a plethora of movies to choose from and is located opposite Brunetti Cafe, known for its excellent coffee, food, cakes and gelati.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Strictly no parties allowed. We have two cats, so if you’re amenable to looking after them that would be lovely, but we’re also happy to arrange to have them housed elsewhere for the duration of your stay.
