My name is Sandy, I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. The World Heritage listed Blue Mountains of Australia. That may seem a funny way to introduce myself, but it is part of me and one of the reasons I live where I live.
I am an older lady, retired from social work, but still with an active social justice mind. I love being part of my mountain village community and participate in various community activities. Recently I was asked to help present a program on the local community radio in a segment - "love what you do"
I love bush walking, photography, travel, gardening, growing my own food and painting and just hanging out with people.
I also have a caravan that I like to explore Australia, so maybe I'm a bit of a gypsy

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
My home is a sunny weatherboard mountain cottage, with large glass windows facing north and outside a sunny veranda. This means there is lots of sun in the winter, but because of the veranda, no sun and cool in summer. There is a mountain view from this veranda and living area. The house is in two sections. The living area, that is open plan consisting of the kitchen and living area with a wood fire stove. This area flows onto a deck with spa and BBQ, This deck area divides the living area from the 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is large and has an ensuite and walk in robe. The other bedroom looks out onto the back garden, while the third room, used as an office, has an outlook onto a small garden of tree ferns. The back garden is mainly bush with a small formal garden beside the house. This garden gives lots of privacy while still offering north facing mountain views.

Mt. Victoria is a small mountain village located in the World Heritage Area of the Blue Mountains, NSW Australia. This is an amazing wilderness of great natural beauty. Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The village of Mt Victoria is walking distance from my home, also the railway station. Other mountain villages of Blackheath and Leura are a short drive. All have lovely cafes and restaurants. In Mt. Victoria there is an old fashion cinema showing the latest films, also within walking distance.
Sight seeing includes The Three Sisters, Govetts Leap and local, easy walks. One that is one a do most days ends in a view of the Kanimbla Valley.
Katoomba, 17km from Mt. Vic has a main shopping area as well as the world attraction of Scenic World. A way to experience the vastness of the mountains by cable car.
Take a day trip, by rail, to Sydney, visit Taronga Zoo, Opera House or a ride on a Sydney Harbour ferry to Manly and return to the peace of the mountains
Activities that are in the area are world class walks such as the the Blue Gum Forest, the Grand Canyon walk and many others.Other activities include canyoning, climbing, abseiling, horse riding and sight seeing in the Jenolan caves

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
This is my home and in swapping my house I would look after your home as I would my own. That is, I would like to find my home neat and tidy as I have left it for you. I love my garden and while I don't expect visitors to 'garden' I would like you to water plants if there is a need to.
I have a cat, who is friendly, but if animals are not what you like to have around I can arrange alternative accommodation for him, please advise me. If having Dizzy is ok, he is an indoor cat, that is he is INSIDE at night and encouraged to stay indoor as much as possible during the day. This is because of the natural wildlife, mainly birds that is part of the mountain environment.
