Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

My apartment is a one bedroom, one study apartment with all modern conveniences in the heart of Melbourne. It is in a heritage-listed, 1920's art-deco business chambers building converted to apartments, with high ceilings and large industrial windows overlooking Little Collins Street. There is a large amount of artwork hung and a pleasant ambience, ideal for the single traveller or couple who wish to explore the laneways, shopping, cafes and arts scene in Melbourne.

Collins Street encapsulates the city’s reputation for quaint trams, sophisticated locals, fine dining and elegant architecture, from Victorian-era and art deco, to the postmodern. Get a table at one of the numerous cafés, enjoy old-world tearooms, Melbourne's premier street can keep you occupied for hours, trams run the length of Collins Street and are the best way to get around as car parking is not available on the property.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

The grandest avenue in Melbourne, Collins Street is renown for prestigious boutiques and designer stores, theatres, high-end hotels and restaurants.

The east end, or “Paris end,” has lavish Victorian-era buildings erected when Melbourne grew during the Victorian gold rush. Global bank headquarters are housed in gothic buildings nicknamed “Cathedrals of Commerce,” like the 19th century Old Stock Exchange and the ANZ Gothic Bank — gold leaf ceilings and grand ceilings. On Collins Street you’ll also find flagship stores for Prada, Armani, Tiffany & Co, and Longchamp and shopping malls including Collins Place, the Block Arcade, and Georges on Collins.

Collins Street is home to the Athenaeum and Regent theatres, which put on international productions throughout the year, and it’s also known for its impressive 19th century churches: Collins Street Baptist Church, St Michael's Uniting Church, and Scot's Presbyterian Church.
