We are teachers, semi retired, who love an active life. Our interests include hiking, cinema/theatre/comedy, dancing, music, reading, cuisine, cycling, water sports, gardening and obviously, people, travel and cultural experiences. We have 2 grown-up sons who live in Brisbane.
We enjoyed 3 eminently successful, consecutive house + vehicle exchanges between July and October 2014 in Dublin IE, Dorridge(near Birmingham UK) and Perth (Ontario CA). They went very smoothly and we maintain excellent relations with our exchangees who are as happy to provide recommendations for us as we are for them.

Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We invite you to enjoy our Sunshine Coast home on Point Cartwright with sweeping views over the harbour, the beach resort town of Mooloolaba and the coastline north to Noosa.
100 steps from the front door accesses kilometers of green, shady parklands along the banks of the Mooloola River with fishing, forest, picnic tables/shelters/free BBQ’s/ amenities, an excellent cafe, walking/cycling paths, coves & lagoons for swimming and breathtaking views.
On the second floor, an open-plan living/dining area merges with the integrated deck and pool terraces. Head through the back gate to access 15 km of pristine white surf beaches stretching from Point Cartwright with its cliffs, lighthouse and wave-cut platforms all the way to the rocky headlands of Mofffat beach, Caloundra.
The entire top floor retreat with expansive master bedroom, study, ensuite/WIR and balcony can be open to the sun and sea breezes, coastline views and sounds of the surf or completely shaded and temperature controlled.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is a quiet, leafy and family friendly, seaside suburb. Surf and river beaches, rain forest, riversiide parklands and local shops are mere steps away.

"The transfer from Brisbane airport went smoothly and we were dropped off right in front of this lovely home. We were met by a charming friend who gave us a walk about through the home. Everything was pretty and cozy. We loved the airy master bedroom and in particular the large doors, opening the house to patio and pool. A great area for some down time with a glass of bubbly. There is only one house between the pool and a fabulous and endless beach. In the evenings we enjoyed our after dinner walks along the river, returning via the beach.
There are many nearby attractions, in particular the big Australia zoo and the Mooloolabu boulevard and lots of space for touring in land.
Thanks for a fabulous exchange. All that was missing was meeting our wonderful hosts."

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Everything is near at hand. A small cluster of shops 100m up our street includes a great Bistro,a Thai restaurant, a Corner Store/ takeaway/fish'n'chips etc and a Physiotherapist;
At the other end of the street is another excellent Coffee Shop/Bistro which overlooks the river and park.
A short walk/cycle along Coastal Pathway on the dunes above the surf brings you to the Kawana Surf Lifesaving club which has a safe, patrolled beach and excellent bar and restaurant facilities overlooking the ocean. Nearby is Kawana Shoppingtown, the second largest Shopping Mall on the Sunshine Coast incorporating 161 stores including 21 Restaurants/Cafes, 3 supermarkets, 3 Banks, 8 Gift/Homewares, 17 Hair & Beauty Salons 12 Pharmacy/Health stores and 5 Newsagents/Bookstores.The surrounding precinct would service every other concievable need from Hardware to Liquor and Seafood Outlets well as many more first class restaurants.

1. "We were extremely fortunate to be able to exchange with the lovely Alex and Louise. They are a warm, helpful couple and their friends made us feel very welcome. The house was spacious, bright and clean and we loved sitting on the balcony in the sunshine. When the sun was not shining, we all rushed for a place on the great window seat! You will find the location wonderful, just a short stroll from the surf. We hold fond memories of the walks round the lighthouse. There is an excellent shopping centre nearby where you can find anything you might need. We easily managed trips to the Frazer Coast, Gold Coast, Steve Irwins zoo and the Glasshouse mountains from their home and were frequent visitors to the picturesque Noosa. We would thoroughly recommend an exchange with the Buwaldas if you get the chance! "
