Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Anglesea is a beach town on Victoria's famed Great Ocean Road. It has a strong cafe culture and all the restaurants and shopping amenities required for holiday and permanent living.
Angelsea has a permanent population of about 2,500. There is no local industry so most people commute the half hour to Geelong for work.
We live in a quiet area surrounded by homes on large bush blocks, many with beautiful native gardens. It is possible to walk through the streets and local heathland on flat paths for about half an hour in any direction. In springtime the heathland has wild orchids and other native flora for the enthusiast.
Most of the street is settled by permanent home owners like ourselves, but some of our neighbours are second home owners attracted by the beaches in summer. We have street party in January to celebrate Australia Day which is a great get together for everyone.

Anglesea is a beach town on Victoria's famed Great Ocean Road. It has a strong cafe culture and all the restaurants and shopping amenities required for holiday and permanent living.
For sports enthusiasts there is an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, and Bowling Greens. Bush walkers can access the heathland and extensive coastal paths.
Patrolled surf beaches and also secluded coves are ideal for swimming and fishing within 5 minutes of the house.
Anglesea is an ideal point from which to explore the beauties of the Great Ocean Road. Torquay, Victoria's surfing capital is a 20 minute drive; Lorne and the Otways National Park with its rainforests and waterfalls is a 30 minute drive south.
The Twelve Apostles is a 3 hour drive along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. There is also an inland route through lush forests and farmland.
Geelong, Victoria's beautiful City by the Bay is within 30 minutes drive, and we are only an hour and a half from Melbourne and the International airport.
