Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Willunga is a very attractive small market town about 45 minutes drive south of Adelaide. It’s famous for its weekly Farmers’ Market, where you can buy a wide range of locally-grown produce but there is also a range of local shops, including a
bakery, butcher, chemist, hairdresser, some well-regarded restaurants, and three pubs, all serving meals. It is situated in the
southern Vale’s wine area and the surrounding country side has numerous vineyards and cellar doors where you can sample the
vintage wine and where there are excellent restaurants for lunch or dinner.
It is ideally situated for exploring the Adelaide Hills, the Fleurieu Peninsula, the Southern Vales Wine region and is within easy reach of the Kangaroo Island ferry. The centre of Adelaide, with all its shops, is easily accessible and also the beautiful Fleurieu peninsular, Victor Harbor, and little coastal settlements such as Port Noarlunga.
It’s only a 40 minute drive to the German settlement of Hahndorf and other tourist spots such as Mount Lofty, and the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley are easily accessible day trips.
Adelaide's climate is Mediterranean and although hot (35c-45c) in summer (Dec-March) it is usually mild and warm in autumn and spring which are the best times to visit. Winter daytime temperature is around 15c but can range from 10c-20c. and winter here is very much like an English spring. South Australia gets as much sunshine and less rain than Queensland in summer.
Adelaide is considered to be the gateway to the Outback, and tours are available from Adelaide to the Flinders Ranges, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Alice Springs and the opal mining town of Coober Pedy. It is also well-situated for visiting other states by car or planes or, if you enjoy train travel, the Indian Pacific leaves Adelaide for Perth or Sydney and the Ghan to Alice Springs and Darwin.

Willunga has an excellent weekly Farmers Market, local shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants, all within ten minutes walk. Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, the Fleurieu
Peninsular, with its beautiful beaches are all within easy reach by car or train.
