Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

New Exchange Offer. Spacious, single level near new home on canal waterfront for you to experience the relaxed Aussie lifestyle! Consists of freestanding home in gardens with secure enclosing fence and electric front gate. Available for use are two large bedrooms with Queen Size beds and ample built-in robes. These two bedrooms share the main bathroom and there is also a separate powder room. We have two lounge areas - one a separate TV/lounge area which is delightful in winter when it's a little cooler, and the other TV/lounge is part of our large open lounge/dining/kitchen area which opens onto our rear deck with outdoor dining and our BBQ. There are ceiling fans throughout our home and it is fully screened against pests. There is a large study/home office which is equipped with a printer. Being new to home exchanging, we have decided not to include our own master bedroom suite in the exchange, keeping it locked to store personal items. Our salt water swimming pool is in the U-shaped centre of the house and, whilst not large, is very private. There is everything you will need in the well-equipped laundry to keep your travel wardrobe ready to go -- although we don't tend to use the dryer often as we have two external and two internal clotheslines. Whenever possible, we prefer fresh air and the sun. Fishing gear can be made available should you wish to try your luck around the area and our two electric bikes can be included by arrangement. A favourite time of day is late afternoon, early evening, relaxing in the chairs on the back deck with a glass of wine and a steak on the BBQ -- doesn't get much better than that! We have a selection of games and books should you have the odd wet day (heaven forbid) or just feel like a day in. We have picnic ware available should you just feel like setting out exploring and taking a picnic. We have two ocean kayaks which are available for your use.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live in a quiet low-rise residential area made up of a mix of families and retirees. Perhaps the most noise might be from the passing boats, or odd small plane from the local light airport. We are ideally situated for you to do nothing but relax, or to travel the Sunshine Coast or further afield in your Australian experience. We recommend that you do an internet search on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland and many options will be presented to you. We have also included the web link for the Sunshine Coast Council which has links to activities and attractions. We live in a fairly flat area which is perfect for walking or cycling, especially along the walkways and paths around the coastline. There are many parks close by and the 15 minute walk up to the Esplanade at Golden Beach, then stroll along the paths admiring the beautiful Pumicestone Passage is enjoyable -- always people walking and enjoying the scenery.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

We are a short drive to large shopping centres or a 15 minute walk to a small suburban convenience centre. From this area also, you can easily access our close local beaches, the Sunshine Coast hinterland mountains, with their National Parks and waterfalls, stunning beaches right along the Sunshine Coast, local markets and little nooks and crannies for shopping and eating out and of course, the renowned Australia Zoo - amongst other wonderful local sights and facilities. The electric train is approximately 20k away, which can be accessed by public bus if needed, and on the train you can go to Brisbane, the Gold Coast or access the Brisbane International or Domestic airports. Located on the Sunshine Coast, Maroochydore airport also has flights to various destinations. The Sunday Markets in Caloundra are a marvellous outing and opportunity to experience local specialties. There are door to door transport services available should you decide to make this your base and hop on a plane for a short trip to another State for the busy city experience. The famous Australia Zoo is approximately 20 minutes away by car or you might like to experience Underwater World at Mooloolaba or some retail therapy at Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre, Maroochydore. Nothing is all that far around the coast and hinterland.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

Our preference is for you to come to our home and enjoy it in privacy and likewise for us to enjoy your home exclusively. Our home has been designed and built incorporating finishes such as granite, travertine and polished timber and therefore we expect that our guests will be familiar with the care required of these surfaces in a home environment. Likewise, we will treat your special place with the care and respect that you would expect in return. Our home will need explanations, such as entry through electric gate, solar power usage, motorised awning etc., but then all homes have their peculiarities and instructions will be needed on both sides. When we travel to your home, it will mostly be just the two of us staying, although we are open to up to two couples staying in our home given that Australia is so far from the homes of many travellers and we imagine that it is quite common for two couples to share the experience and distance. We are not really open to having our home used by extended family as part of your booking, but of course this depends on the circumstances and can always be discussed. Whilst we have ticked "Long Term Exchange", we are not sure how long that relates to -- what we mean by that is that we would be happy to have an accepted guest booking of a month or more, dependent of course on our travel plans around the world and what potential exchangers are looking for. As we have said in other comment, we are not looking for any Australian exchanges whilst we choose to use our caravan around Australia as much as we can. Our master suite is not included as part of any home exchange.
