Alison and Paul are recently retired medical specialists who have been married 32 years. We have two adult daughters who both live in eastern Sydney.
We live in a quiet beach side suburb of the Gold Coast which is about 1 hour's drive south of Brisbane. Our suburb is mainly populated by other retirees.
We live 200m to shops and restaurants, 400m to Southport Surf Club with a patrolled beach, 350m to Southport yacht Club, 1.2km to a major shopping center (Australia Fair Shopping Center with over 200 stores and a large cinema) and 1.7km to Southport Aquatic Center with 2 Olympic pools and a training pool.
Alison was born in a little village in south Wales and Paul comes from Brisbane. We both love to travel especially to the UK and France. We are keen to take on house sitting/ home exchange opportunities. We are non smokers and consider ourselves very clean and tidy people. Alison loves gardening and reading and Paul loves hitting golf balls badly.
Alison is fluent in French and Paul is trying to learn that language with startlingly poor results. Alison has a British and Australian passports and Paul is in the process of procuring an Irish passport which he is entitled to via his maternal grandfather in addition to his Australian passport.
House exchanges will provide us with an opportunity to experience living like a local while making new friends.
We have no pets at the moment but have had cats and dogs in the past when the children were young and so are used to looking after and exercising them.We also have had beef cattle in the distant past and can drive tractors and operate farm machinery if this was necessary.
We are new to the home exchange world and haven't completed any exchanges as yet.
We also have a 4 bedroom semi detached property in Queenstown in NZ which is also available for exchange. There are direct flights from our local airport to Queenstown.
