A middle aged family of three, we are a diverse set of professionals who share space with the previously-mentioned adorable cat. Heidi is a technology marketeer working for a Fortune 100 company, Linda is Director of Operations at an Electronic Medical Records non-profit, and Ron is a consultant and actor. Together and individually we enjoy podcasting, salsa and swing dancing, gardening, reading, quilting, hiking, biking, scuba diving, theatre, and hosting lively dinners.
We are cat people. And dog people. Basically, we would love to take care of your pets during our stay--in fact, it's a plus for us! We also enjoy gardening and are happy to care for your plants.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Note: **we are looking for a non-simultaneous exchange for our home while we are in Hawaii January 5-31, 2020**. Spacious home in Seattle's artistic Fremont neighborhood close to downtown, the waterfront, and the Burke-Gilman bicycle trail. Three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom, two-story home with generous back deck and cozy second-story balcony. Updated kitchen with gas stove and open design made for entertaining. Formal dining room with seating for up to eight. Book-lined library with gas fireplace and study desk. Hardwood floors throughout. A gorgeous Russian Blue kitty is included!
The upper level has newly-installed dark bamboo hardwood floors and a newly-remodeled custom bathroom. You'll enjoy your generous master bedroom featuring a king-sized bed, airy décor, and an en suite bathroom with dual sinks, water closet, skylight, and separate bathtub and shower. The second bedroom features a queen bed with memory foam mattress, antiques, a small sitting area, and a charming, plant-filled balcony perfect for watching the sunset or doing morning yoga. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a window with southern exposure. The second bathroom, accessed from the upstairs hallway, has just been remodeled in a vintage retro style with a custom antique vanity and extra-deep soaking bathtub and enjoys natural light from its skylight.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The quirky, artistic Fremont neighborhood, locally known as “the center of the universe,” is home to various public art installations, including the troll sculpture under the bridge, Waiting for the Interurban, and a huge, controversial bronze statue of Vladimir Lenin right next to a falafel joint. Bars, coffee shops, and boutiques make downtown Fremont a worthwhile walk any time.
This house is just three miles from downtown and the waterfront, well-placed near multiple bus stops (20-30 minutes to downtown), two blocks from the extensive Burke-Gilman bike trail (with low-cost bikeshare bikes available 24/7 by smartphone app), 45 minutes by car from ski resorts, and 45 minutes from multiple excellent scuba diving sites.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Hike up Poo Poo point, just 45 minutes away by car--and watch the hang gliders from the summit (or try it yourself!). Organize a whale-watching tour that departs from the waterfront, just four miles away. Take the Argosy boat cruise around the Sound, Lake Washington, or Lake Union. Make a day trip by taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island and doing wine tastings, enjoying live music or antiquing. Rent kayaks on one of the nearby lakes or beaches! The Summit at Snoqualmie is under an hour drive away and offers skiing and snow tubing. Mount Rainier is about a two-hour drive away and offers hiking for people of all experience levels. And if you're a scuba diver, be sure to ask Ron for his favorite dive sites in the area.
If you're looking for a more urban experience, downtown shopping is just 3.5 miles away. Enjoy the view from the Space Needle on a clear day, revel in the organic beauty at Chihuly's Glass Garden, or watch women's basketball--all at the Seattle Center. Find out about the history of Seattle (and the famous madam who paid to pave the streets!) at Seattle's Underground Tour, which starts in historic Pioneer Square. Enjoy drinks at the top of the nearby Smith Tower, newly refurbished back to its original vintage charm. Visit the statue of Jimi Hendrix in Capitol Hill and, while you're there, check out Century Ballroom a block away for all types of ballroom and social dancing classes and dances.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We have an adorable Russian blue kitty who will love to curl up at the foot of your bed and get pets during the day. Since this is our primary home, the fourth bedroom will serve as storage for us during travel and will be locked off and off-limits. The home will be professionally cleaned before you arrive; please leave it in the same condition when you leave. When you leave, just remove all the bed linens and put them in the washing machine. A booklet with full details will be on the kitchen counter upon your arrival.
