We are a husband and wife with three children in their 20s. Our kids reaped the benefits of growing up in a New England college town, and then moved away to live in major U.S. cities. We embrace the pace of life in Middlebury village, where we walk or bicycle to work, schools, shopping, restaurants, public library, museums, sights, and recreation.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We live in a classic Cape Cod-style home with a former carriage house on the back. The house contains 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, a spacious flow-through living/dining room area, and a large eat-in kitchen with farmhouse table, exposed beams, and pantry doors. Designed for 4-season outdoor living, the house has a sunny deck off the kitchen, and the half-acre property is surrounded by trees, gardens, shrubs, and a large open field.
Our house is just a 3-minute walk to the breathtaking campus of Middlebury College, or a brisk 5-minute walk to the historic village of Middlebury with its quaint shops, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, parks, galleries, museums, theaters, and libraries. The sidewalk in front of our house takes you directly into the village, or hop on any one of our bicycles for a cruise around the town or college campus. Middlebury is situated in a lush valley between the Adirondack Mountains and the Green Mountains, and gorgeous views abound.
Are you interested in seeing more urban sights during your stay? Montreal is a 2.5-hour drive from Middlebury, Boston is 4 hours away, and New York City is a 5-hour drive. The nearest urban center – Burlington, Vermont – is an easy 45-minute drive away. BTV lives up to its reputation as a hip, progressive small city known for its great music, food, arts, and culture.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We ask only that our guests take off their shoes in our house since we have pine floors throughout. We have done successful house exchanges before with families from Martha's Vineyard (Mass.), New York City, and Rye Beach (New Hampshire), and this is the first time we have tried homelink.org.
