We are a family of 2 adults and three children aged 9,11 and 13. I work as a doctor and my husband, Dave, is a geophysicist. Our children are careful and respectful and we love the outdoors, wild spaces and natural history. We have done 2 very successful house exchanges in the past ( but then had a gap when we weren't registered with the site).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Colinton is described as a "village on the edge of the city". We have local shops, restaurants and pubs which serve food but we are lucky to live in a quiet tree lined lane surrounded by green space. Buses run from the bottom of the street to the centre of the city taking around 30 minutes and local amenities include fantastic golf, walking and sports facilities. There are several supermarkets within a couple of minutes drive, or a few stops on the bus. From the house it is a few minutes walk onto the Pentland Hills, the Water of Leith walkway or down to the local park. A cycleway runs into the city from the bottom of the road taking around 30 minutes.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Edinburgh is teeming with historical and cultural attractions. The city is centred around the Old Town with the Castle, the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace, to the South and Princes Street with the Georgian New Town to the North. It is an easy city to navigate and ideal for walking with lots of parks and green spaces. There are wonderful galleries, theatres and music and first rate cuisine. The city is bounded by the Firth of Forth with the iconic bridges and lots of beautiful beaches and the Pentland Hills which boast fabulous view, great walking and the largest dry ski slope in Europe. Edinburgh forms an ideal base for exploring Scotland with excellent transport links. It is around 15 minutes drive to the airport with internal and international connections and Edinburgh has train and bus connections to all other areas of the UK.
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
