Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The Village
Burton Fleming is a picturesque Wolds village, mainly involved in agriculture. The village has a strong sense of community and has retained many useful facilities that other villages have sadly lost. There is a church, pub/restaurant, children's playground and a village hall. The village can even boast 2 duck ponds.

Pub - Burton Arms
Located at the village crossroads, live music and other events and activities on occasion. See board outside or website for details.

St Cuthberts Church
St Cuthbert's church has something from just about every architectural period imaginable, Norman, medieval, Georgian, or Victorian , all piled on top of each other in glorious eclectic style.

Village Walk
There is a lovely village walk that runs along a grass path and track through West Field House Farm. During the spring and summer you will see many different wild flowers and grasses in the verges of the fields. Hares, sky larks are common sights (and sounds). If you are lucky you may catch sight of deer or an owl cruising the hedges for food at dusk. The path crosses the path of the Gypsey race at several points. Full details of the walk and a map are provided in the Stratton House information folder for guests.

Hunmanby Gap Beach
A picturesque cove in the East Coast on the edge of the North sea. Offering spectacular views to sea, a relaxing retreat with plenty of activities to enjoy for all the family. Four miles of golden sands to explore.

Spirit of Yorkshire Whisky Distillery
We’re making something unique and special here: the first-ever Yorkshire Single Malt Whisky. But it’s not the fact that it’s from Yorkshire that makes it special, it’s the way we’re making it. See the website for more details.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs
Easily the best place in England to see, hear and smell seabirds! More than 200,000 birds (from April to August) make the cliffs seem alive - with adults bringing food to their nests, or young chicks making their first faltering flights. With huge numbers to watch, beginners can easily learn the difference between gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars. The easily recognisable puffins (here between April and July) are always a delight.

Bridlington Golf Club
Bridlington Golf Club has an 18 hole, easy walking course with thousands of trees screening the fairways, six water features and many well-positioned bunkers.
