Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We first joined HomeLink in 1995 and over the years have enjoyed 15 swaps in the UK, USA, and Asia. We recently re-joined and have two new options to offer.
Our apartment is the perfect location to enjoy and explore Cape Town. The complex is secure safe (with fulltime concierge) and overlooks the city centre.
The apartment is a penthouse on the fifth floor providing a wonderful sunny view of the centre of the city of Cape Town. There are two lifts providing easy access.
The main bedroom is upstairs with a mezzanine office/second bedroom. The main bathroom is upstairs with a second toilet on the lower level. There is a small balcony off the lounge area.
WiFi internet and satellite TV channels are available.
This is a very easy place to live. All amenities within walking distance. On the MyCiti bus route.

Ideally we are seeking a swap in an urban area where we can engage with the local culture.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live on the outskirts of the CBD of Cape Town. We are a ten minutes drive from Camps Bay, Sea Point and Clifton beaches and Table Mountain.
Within walking distance is Long Street which is well known for its clubs, bars and restaurants. Kloof street is around the corner and has more sedate restaurants.
Gardens is an old extension of Cape Town city tinged with a fresh breath of brand new development: hotels, shops and restaurants.
The old Cape Town feel that emanates from the Museums, churches and Company Gardens is complemented by the creative influence of the Michaelis Art School, the off-the-wall Labia Cinema complex and the herds of students, media types and career poseurs of many persuasions on Kloof St.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Enjoy leisurely walks along the tree-lined paths while taking in some of the more than 8 000 species of plants contained in the Company’s Garden, before stopping for tea and cake at the tea room.

There are also a number of museums in the vicinity, including the South African National Gallery.
the Iziko Museums’ South African Museum, the South African Jewish Museum and the District Six Museum.

No visit is complete without taking time out to feed peanuts to the squirrels or to enjoy views of Table Mountain.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We are currently looking for simultaneous and non-simultaneous swaps.
We started home swapping 20 years ago and have enjoyed visiting homes in big cities such as Paris, New York, HCMC, Singapore, London, Edinburgh, San Francisco and Rome. Our daughters are adults now and are unlikely to travel with us. As we are now semi-retired we are looking for longer term stays and would most likely to be tempted to visit cities where the climate is moderate.
