Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The house is in the middle of Valais, one of the best montainous region in Switzerland. This is a paradise for skiing. The house is less than 30 minutes away from several ski ressorts (Nendaz, Ovronnaz, Cran Montana, Anzère, La Tzoumaz, Thyon, Veysonnaz) and less than 1 hour from Zermatt and Verbier.
Valais is also beautiful in the summer. Climate and landscape make it a wanderful place for walking and hiking.
Valais is the biggest place for wine in Switzerland. A remarkable feature of Valais is its extraordinary mix of soil types, sun exposure and micro-climates: in short, its terroirs. It is no surprise, then, that a number of grape varieties find perfect growing conditions here.
There is many thermal baths in the region. The biggest underground lake in Europe is 10 minutes away from the house.
Sion (5 minutes drive) is the main town of Valais. it has 2 castles on hills and a very quiet and charming old town with many good restaurants. The golf club is 5 minutes drive.
