Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home is overlooking Princess Margaret beach and has a wonderful location on the crest of the point, with sweeping views of the beach on one side and the harbor and town on the other. Bequia has long been a favorite destination for sailing yachts and still has a rich tradition of boat building and sailing. For such a small island, only 7 miles long, there is a large and diverse selection of restaurants and entertainment. Besides sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing , hiking and tennis easily accessible. Ferries run 4 times a day between Bequia and St. Vincent. Boat trips to other neighboring islands and the stunning marine sanctuary of the Tobago Keys are also readily available. Our caretaker and his wife, the housekeeper, are fabulous people and are always willing to offer local advice. We have a resident dog, Rusty, who lives outdoors. He loves to serve as a local tour guide and will wait patiently outside of shops and restaurants to escort you home.

From our house, you can walk 2 minutes down to the beach or going the other direction its a 10 minute very scenic walk to the harbor and main town of Port Elizabeth. Local taxis are inexpensive and can take you anywhere on the island, there are also water taxis available. Almost every night in season (December-April) there is live music on the island. The Old Hegg sea turtle sanctuary delights young and old alike as Brudda King shares his stories and knowledge. Day trips to Tobago Keys marine sanctuary are fun filled and for the more adventurous a climb up the active volcano in St Vincent with it's breathtaking views is only a ferry ride away.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We love our Carribean home and would hope that all visitors will feel the same way we do and respect our property as if it were their own. Our housekeeper is available and normally comes twice a week. Our caretaker checks in daily to feed the dog, but keeps a low profile unless his services are needed. The pool man also comes twice a week.
