Holland is small and Almere is very centrally located so we are confident you will find plenty of things to your liking nearby! A visit (or several) to Amsterdam is a must no matter what your interests are. We would certainly recommend the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum, a canal tour by boat, The Anne Frank Museum and the Maritime museum but there is a lot more. Other highly recommended historical cities/sights in a 30 min circle would be Haarlem, Utrecht, Naardervesting and the well preserved medieval Castle Muiderslot. In the spring period visiting the famous Keukenhof Tulip gardens (March-May) is a must. Alternatively, we may also be able to help you with lots of tips on where to find the flower fields away from the tourists and crowds :-) In the spring & summer period a visit to the living history museum Zuiderzee Museum is highly recommended and for the colder months the indoor gardens of the Orchideehoeve are surprisingly entertaining, certainly for families with kids.
