Our apartment is located in the old town; just 5 min. walking from the castle of Trieste and San Giusto cathedral. Miramare castle 20 min. by bus. In 5 min. you can reach via di Cavana where you will find good supermarkets, two of the best fish markets of the city, an ice-cream parlor, shops, bar, restaurants, pizzerie, pharmacies, etc. Most of the old town area is car-free. You don't need a car since the apartment is in the city centre and the bus connections are very good.
From the apartment you can also reach the promenade seafront, where you can take a boat to the beautiful beaches of Grado, to the ancient town of Muggia, and also (during summer period) the ferries to Slovenia and Croatia (30 min to reach Piran, 1 hour / 1.45 hour to reach Umag or Rovinij). You are also 1h45 to Venice by train if you want to visit it for a day trip.
