Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have been on four lovely exchanges. Our first was in Paris, our second in Austria and another in Cognac France and one in Dingle, Ireland. All were fantastic. Our Cottage is a newly built ( 2007 ) Thatched dormer situated in the quaint fishing village of Kilmore Quay. It is a popular tourist area and is known as 'the Sunny Southeast' , because of its mild sunny climate relative to the rest of the country. It is 20 minutes drive to Wexford town and there is also public bus service from the village. There is so much to do all around
including fabulous beaches, heritage sites and amazing walking & cycle routes.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The village itself has a number of lovely places where you can eat out, including two restaurants, a number of cafés and two pubs. There is live music in the pubs on certain nights. There is also a very popular take away , to which people flock from the surrounding town lands!
There are a general store where you can buy all necessities and also a large supermarket ( 15 minutes by car ) in the nearby village of Wellington Bridge.
In October/ November the Opera Festival is held in Wexford town.
Kilmore Quay is a world renowned location for Birdwatching. There are three main areas; Tacumshin lake, Wexford mudflats and the Saltee islands which are all within easy reach.
There are numerous walks close by and further afield, including the Dune walks at Ballyteigue beach, Forth mountain trails, walks at Hook lighthouse , Rosslare to Carne coastal walk & Raven point curracloe just to mention a few. There are also marked cycling routes in the area starting at Kilmore Quay.
In the village itself are two beaches The small beach is lovely and safe for families with small kids. The playground is close by the little beach as is the local Saltee chipper. The Saltee sauna is at the beach front too! Ballyteigue beach provides miles of sand for walking, sunbathing and kitesurfing. There is also a tennis court public amenity in the village centre. Lots of information can be had at the Stella Maris local community centre.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There are many beautiful beaches and little coves to explore. You will have them all to yourself!! There are also possibilities for sailing, Kayaking and sea angling.
There is a kids playground in village and a lovely boardwalk along the village waterfront. There are other beautiful walks along the Ballyteigue beach, through the sand dunes and also around the seashore near the small beach in the village. You can walk out St Patricks bridge at ebbing tide. The sand dunes are also fabulous for a picnic providing lovely sheltered areas. The oldest working lighthouse in Europe "The Hook" is a short drive away with beautiful walks around. Other places of interest are Johnstown castle, the heritage centre at Ferrycarrig, Rosslare village/ Strand, Wexford town and more. There are cycle routes marked all around the area and bicycle rental in the village. A trip to the Saltee islands just 20 minutes off the coast is a must.
