Dún Laoghaire is a great area: the best of both worlds, it is located on the coastline and is just 15 minutes from Dublin city centre in one direction and 30 minutes away from magical Wicklow in the other by train.
There is an abundance of amenities in the local area, whether you are interested in literary history or the great outdoors. Enjoy long walks along the East & West Piers in Dún Laoghaire and all along the coastline. Literary lovers will enjoy the James Joyce Tower and museum which is housed in a Martello Tower in Sandycove and swimmers will enjoy the bracing water of the famous 40ft bathing area in front of the Tower.
Take a walk over Killiney Hill for some majestic views of the coastline (5 mins drive or 30 mins walk away) and from there take the stairway down to Killiney beach. If you’re not inclined to walk take the train which stops at several beauty spots along the coast.
Dún Laoghaire has many art galleries, a theatre and multiplex cinema and within minutes of the house are three supermarkets, a pharmacy and a café as well as two great pubs, McCormack’s and Bakers Corner.
We are lucky to be on one of the main bus routes (46A) to Dublin city centre with a bus stop minutes from the house or you could travel the coastline by train if you prefer, the nearest station a 20 minute walk away or an 8 minute bus ride.
Taxis are available 24/7 and can be hailed on the street and if you’re driving we are very close to the N11 & M50 motorway.
