Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

4 bedroom house in the north west of Ireland. Our little home is in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, 2 hours drive from Dublin and 35 minutes from the Atlantic Coast. The house is 1500 square feet, and while each room is small, it's a warm and comfortable house full of charm. Our garden is 1.5 acres, bordered by gorgeous green woodlands, home to red squirrels, cuckoos - occasionally we're visited by a family of deer! For winding down, you can relax in the living room with a glass of wine in front of the wood burning stove, or watch a movie on our cable TV (with Netflix). The man of the house is a bit of a nerd, so there is great WiFi, surround sound in the TV room and Amazon Alexa with Spotify in many of the rooms. Central heating is oil fired and easily controlled by a Nest controller (or just ask Alexa to do it for you!). A gardener takes care of the garden, so you don't have to worry about that - although feel free to dig in if you want! The kitchen is small, but fully functional with refrigerator, freezer, 2 ovens, grill, hob, microwave, dishwasher and sink. Adjoining the kitchen is a dining room with 8 seat table. Washing machine and drier are in the garage, adjoining the house. We also have 2 mountain bikes you're free to use. The main bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower. The secondary bedroom also has an en-suite with shower. 3rd bedroom has bunk beds, and the 4th has a day bed, which opens into a full double. There is also a separate nursery with a cot than can transform into a toddler's bed. There's also a multigym and free weights in the garage.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Boyle is in County Roscommon, in the northwest of Ireland. It's a heritage town, steeped in history and culture. Our site overlooks the magnificent Lough Key (visible from the garden, but trees now block the view directly from the house), where you can take cruises down the famous River Shannon. The famous Castle Island (see our pictures) sits in the middle of Lough Key, giving a glimpse of medieval Ireland. People travel from all over Ireland to visit the magnificent Lough Key Forest Park, just a 5 minute drive from the house. We are 2 hours from Dublin and 35 minutes from the Atlantic coast. You can reach Donegal, Sligo and Mayo in under an hour. Galway is 1hr 45 away, and the famous Cliffs of Moher are just over 2 hours away. Knock airport is 40 minutes away, where you can catch short hops to London, Scotland and many other destinations.
