Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our house is a located at the bottom of a quiet street in a residential area of Hafnarfjörður, known for both being the elf and viking town. The house is 160 m2, not counting the garage. It has a garage and a small, landscaped garden with a porch. The house has three bedrooms, an office and one bathroom, living room, dining room, foyer, laundry room and a kitchen. In the master bedroom there is a double bed, in one of the bedrooms there is an elevated bed and in another a single bed. If more bedding is needed we can provide a travel bed in the bedroom we use as office. A cot for a small child could also be arranged.
There is also wi-fi in the house, PlayStation3 and access to Netflix on the tv. We are a family that loves games so we have a large collection of board-games as well.
Several playgrounds for children are to be found within 2 minutes walk. Within walking distance are two heated swimming pools, one indoors and other outdoors, both equipped with saunas and outdoor hot-pots, a gorgeous golf course by the sea, two gyms and a harbor with a small cafe. A supermarket is located within 10 min walking distance and there's a kiosk two streets away. Also within walking distance (15 min) is a small lake, Astjorn, with a walking path around it. If you are interesting in going riding there is a company offering riding tours located in Hafnarfjordur: Ishestar.
Our car will be at your disposal but if you want to take the bus it's only 2 minutes away and it goes straight to downtown Reykjavik.
Our town, Hafnarfjordur, is Iceland's 3rd biggest town including the capital, and it is a thriving one, with nice restaurants, good shops, a small shopping centre, art museum where concerts are regularly held, and more. One of the restaurants is a viking themed one, Fjorukrain, linked to Hotel Viking, where there are regular viking themed events. Hafnarfjordur is quite beautiful, surrounded by lava-fields and boasts a thriving scenic harbor.
ATTENTION: We have two cats, Lukka and Felix. They're both very friendly. If you would like to travel around the country for more than 2 days without coming to the house we would be able to arrange for someone to feed the cats in the meantime. We also have 5 hens that provide eggs every day, they can be left alone for 2 days as well. The eggs need collecting and would of course be yours ;) Their water supply is two days for a time.
We have not done swaps on this site before but have done so once through another website. References can be arranged if wished for.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our neighborhood is a quiet part of Hafnarfjörður, a town surrounded by lava fields and in the area of the capital, Reykjavík. Hafnarfjörður has a lot to offer, it is the viking town of Iceland as well a being famous for its elves! Our harbor is picturesque and the ponds and lava fields in the vicinity of the town have a number of walking paths. It's easy to go horse-back riding here as well and we have two golf fields, a number of swimming pools and even a beach like area by our lake, Hvaleyrarvatn. Reykjavik, the capital, is only 15 minutes drive away and The Blue Lagoon 40 minutes, en route from the airport, Keflavik, which lies 50min away from Hafnarfjörður.
