Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We live in a lovely and spacious house on two floors, just 20 m from the beach. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, kitchen, laundry room. Smart TV, Apple TV and Satellite TV. The garden is large, with patio area, chicken house, and trampoline.
From the living room there is a beautiful view on a nature reserve called Kasthúsatjörn, which is very important for birds. It's a common sight to see riders on their horses pass by and during summer horses graze in the meadow just outside the garden. From the balcony there is amazing 360° view on the ocean and mountains that surrounds the capital area.
In an attached building there is a vacation apartment that we rent out, so there might be other people on the property.
The house is ideal for 4–6 persons, although it accommodates up to 8 persons. Car is recommended.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Álftanes is characterized by beautiful shorelines, clear ponds and abundant bird life. A countryside image of fairly dense settlement in the peace of nature with all the advantages of being near Reykjavík.
The district is nice and quiet, the house is very close to the sea, and the place is ideal for outdoor activities. It offers diverse bird life, protected bird area, pastures for horses (except for the coldest months), and sometimes magnificent ocean waves. Perfect place to watch the Northern Lights at winter and the midnight sun at summer.
Bessastaðir, the official residence of the Icelandic President is only 2.5 km away.
About 2 km away there is an excellent public swimming pool, Álftaneslaug, which offer the only wave pool in Iceland. It also has a steam bath, big slide, hot tubs and a gym.
Álftanes Kaffi is a nice little coffee house about 2 km away, very close to the swimming pool. There you can have coffee and delicious treats in cosy environment and all meals made from scratch. Great soups and the pizza is superb.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We would need you to take care of our cat and the hens, but we have people that will take the dog while we are away.
It‘s important for us to find our house in the same condition as we left it when we get back. We never wear outdoor shoes inside and we expect you to do the same. No parties or events. Treat my home with care and as if it were your own.
