We're a family with two boys: Dillon aged 7 and Tom who's 11. I'm originally from England and work here as a translator/editor. Alan is originally from New Zealand and works here as a journalist. We've both been here for around 20 years now and still love Berlin! We have quite a lot of catsitting experience (and Alan and I both had cats as children) and would be more than happy to look after any cats if required.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our lovely apartment is in a quiet street in the groovy Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin. We're on the fourth floor (no lift, I'm afraid as it's an old building) with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a very large kitchen/ dining room/ living room area. There is also a garden which we share with our neighbours.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The Arnimplatz is just around the corner with playgrounds, cafés and restaurants. There's also Berlin's oldest bakery where they still bake according to traditional methods. A supermarket (and also a vegan supermarket!) and all kinds of other amenities are close by. We're also just 10 minutes walk from the Mauerweg which is a cycling/ walking route following the former path of the Berlin wall. Prenzlauer Berg has loads of great cafés, bars, restaurants, hip shops and nightlife but there are also lots of families living here so there's plenty for kids too. Underground, S-bahn and tram stops are 5-10 minutes' walk away. It's just 13 minutes on the tram to the Monbijou park and Berlin's museum island/the historic centre.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There is so much to do/see in Berlin and Prenzlauer Berg that it's difficult to make a choice and it really depends on what you're into! There's a small market selling local produce at the bottom of our street every Saturday. I will also list a few of the cafés/ restaurants close by - but it's a small selection!
