I am a retired Kindergarten teacher and have lived in Victoria since high school. I am active and love biking, hiking, cooking, travelling, music and spending time with friends and family. My partner John is a very active retired professional. He hikes, mountain bikes, skis, plays hockey, windsurfs, golfs, etc. We thoroughly enjoy house exchange as it gives you an insight into how the locals live wherever you go!
We can also offer a non simultaneous exchange. We are very tidy, reliable, clean and responsible and will take very good care of your home.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Lovely home on private half acre, fully fenced backyard. 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms upstairs. Living room with warm, cozy natural gas fireplace, dining room seats up to 8 comfortably. Main bath with combo bath / shower with heated tile floor. Master bedroom with queen bed and new ensuite bathroom -step free shower and heated floor. Second bedroom with double bed, third bedroom comfortable queen bed. Downstairs -playroom, washer and dryer. Large secluded deck -dining table and chairs for 6, full wicker set with 14 foot umbrella and natural gas barbecue that can be used all year in Victoria. 2 covered parking spots in carport. Wonderful, friendly neighbours!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Cordova Bay is a fantastic location -15 minute drive to downtown Victoria and the same to Sidney and the ferries. Butcharts Gardens a short drive away. Broadmead shopping center (large grocery store, liquor store, Canadian Tire, Pharmasave, Starbucks, a Romeo's Pizza and excellent Thai restaurant…) less than 10 minutes away. Many fabulous, and mostly organic, farms as well as wineries are both a short drive away. 5 minute drive to Elk Lake with fabulous forested and shaded 10 km walking/ running trail, playgrounds and beaches for swimming. The ocean, world class 18 hole golf course, beautiful ocean view Par 3 golf course and a small market grocery store, wine store and many small shops with local products and services a 15 minute walk down the ridge. Saanich Commonwealth Place with fully equipped weight room, huge swimming pool with a wave pool, shallow tot pool and dive tank and public library 5 minutes away. The Galloping Goose Trail, a dedicated biking/ walking path about an 8 minute ride from our house, goes downtown, out to Sidney/ the peninsula or heads up the west coast of the island at a gentle elevation.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Victoria is a top tourist destination on the southernmost tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria and surrounding areas have many diverse activities and sights; golfing, whale watching, garden tours, salmon fishing, hiking, shopping, visiting beaches and parks, biking, boating, etc. (http://www.tourismvictoria.com, http://www.hellobc.com/, http://www.vancouverisland.com/, http://www.victoriabcguide.com). Downtown there are many wonderful restaurants, heritage buildings, shops, the Royal B.C. Museum, street performers, the legislative buildings and more. You can drive up Island for a day of beachcombing, swimming or hiking. Parksville and Tofino offer miles of long sandy beaches and Tofino is a fantastic surfing mecca. If you'd like to explore a bit further you can take a ferry to the Gulf Islands, to Vancouver and then on to Whistler if you wish or to Washington State, USA. We seldom get snow in the winter and it rarely goes above 30' C in the summer.

This is a very clean, non-smoking home and I don't allow pets inside. We will be responsible and considerate with your home as I'm sure you will be with mine. Please note - we are unable to complete a simultaneous home exchange in July or August although my home is available for a non simultaneous exchange then.
